We want LI to be one of the friendliest places on the internet, where lawyers and law students help each other with their career related queries and occasionally discuss other stuff that might affect their lives too. In other words:
1. Be kind, respectful and helpful to each other.
2. Be bona fide, truthful, genuine and curious.
3. Assume the best intention of others.
Therefore, in using the site, you must agree to do your best to uphold these community guidelines.
Note that what you find here is written and moderated by anonymous people on the internet.
Therefore everything you read here is very likely unverified, rumour, speculation and/or downright false.
In continuing to read anything here, you must therefore agree not to take anything you read here as factual and that you will exercise due caution, diligence and common sense before acting on any information you may come across here.

Your course was really helpful for us Non NLU guys, where HR never even looks at our CVs if we write the name of our college in internship applications. I am the topper of my batch and also performed well in one of the course and was happy to get a recommendation to a tier 1 and am performing well here as well.
To all the people saying it's useless content and stuff, what do people like me do? I cannot absolutely afford the fees at an NLU and Im in a gen category and able to get just CNLU and the likes which dont help me at all in anything. I cannot afford CLAT coaching or even the NLU fees if I even get the chance. The ABS is also very selective and has some other rounds, and I certainly cannot waste time and money on it. This is the reality of us. We really have to spend the 6k to 10k and also perform well here to get some chance at internships and therefore set the foot into these places. Ofcource once I was here I realised that most team members really are mediocre in their work and even the "top 40 under 40 partners" dont know basic law and call the associate to research on basic rules.
Empathy doesnt mean seeing loss of human life as unacceptable- empathy is pretending that you can feel anyone elses pain, empathy is pretending that because you "feel" their pain you are a better person for it. I think loss of human life is unacceptable. Most people who disagree with you think loss of human life is unacceptable. Its the radical left that claims that "resistance by any means necessary" is acceptable if one feels put upon enough. Its offensive to assume that someone is okay with murdered babies because of a disagreement over how we get to the ideal place. I dont think we get to that place without understanding what happened- or lying about it or moral equivocation, why has peace not been attained so far- and what it would take to make palestinians actually free. To make palestinians actually free- it would take the destruction of hamas. This much history proves. As long as a terrorist group asking for a one-state solution to the problem at the threat of genocide and murdering grandmas and babies is seen by ANYONE on the left as "legitimately resisting"- peace will not prevail. If israel ceases its operations today and gives up on finding hamas- hamas will still attack them again in a years time and kill more people. If hamas is forced to surrender today- palestinians will have a better life tomorrow. Israel has not been the unprovoked aggressor here. Hamas has done this repeatedly. Your inability to look this truth square in the face does not mean it is not true. Hamas has had nearly sole control over gaza for 19 years. Why do they have more missiles than they do food? You still dont for a moment take the time to actually make it clear that hamas provoked this conflict- that they are not legitimately resisting and that they are holding palestinians hostage. Geo politics is not about blame game- instagram is. Fareed zakaria has a clear solution to what should happen, Thomas Friedman has a clear solution. You do not. You just want to chastise other people for not caring about loss of human life. Because your empathy is not really about those people at all. Its about validating how wonderful you are. And you assume that people who disagree with you dont care because you cannot imagine a world in which you might just be wrong. You need to work on that.

Is this common among private universities?
Another reason is that guys are judged less harshly. A tech bro can walk into a high society party wearing jeans and sneakers, order Jack and Coke, wear streets brands, talk loudly. People will actually praise him for being a maverick. If a girl does that then she will be crucified.

NLUJ you should be more concerned about GNLU.
I am from general category (with drop). However, I know of NRI students from my batch who are doing far better than I am [i.e. earning more than I am].
I can't vouch for how your daughter will feel, but if she wants a corporate job then 50 lakhs in fee is not a big amount. This considering the fact that she will make as much in less than 3 years time [if she does not get a foreign placement, then she will make even more]. Very few investments have that good an ROI.
A certain kid working with world bank, worked up via MS in Econ after BALLB. Looking for similar/related suggestions or examples? Thanks

Don't write a comment just to make an argument.
We don't recognise semi CA firms as a law firm.
Purity is important.
1. Are you looking for a return on investment? Depending on the university, that isn't going to be the case. You have to look at it as a sunk cost which lets your child join a profession.
2. Is your child up for the challenge. If you feel they are not ready for the grind, maybe save their year and move them to something more up their speed.
As for INSEAD, contacts made there are more valuable than contacts made during an LLM.
βToo dumb to make it to NLUsβ (for people doing LLBs abroad)
βYouβll never be as good as us NLU guysβ (for non-NLU grads doing LLMs abroad)
βYouβll never be as good as us tier 1 NLU guysβ (for tier 2 NLU grads doing LLMs abroad)
βWaste of time, because Cyril Shroff doesnβt careβ (for tier 1 NLU grads doing an LLM abroad and then returning to India)
βRich kid, nepo kidβ (in all the above cases)
Why so much negativity? π€¨
At this point, it's hard to discern whether LI is full of dumb 1st year law students, or proper graduates with the intelligence and awareness of a first year law student. The latter seems to be true and is so much worse.
Here is fareed zakaria talking about how a bunch of stuff you might think intuitively is wrong. Its US disengagement with the Middle East has led to conflict, this is Hamas putting in a wedge between Saudis and israel. Hamas is fighting a sympathy war they deliberately carried out these barbaric attacks on oct 7 hoping for an outsized overreaction from israel to increase sympathy for their cause. palestinian leadership and hamas have rejected several deals over history- 1947 to clinton and ehud barak- they keep wanting a one state solution which would mean the only jewish country in the world would not exist. that they keep fighting wars they will lose instead of agreeing to a two state solution that would improve the lives of palestinians. Its the palestinian leadership that is power hungry and religiously dogmatic and wants to prioritise a political victory over its own peoples existence. He comes right out and says it- they are feckless and corrupt. And your empathy- is the tool theyre using to their own benefit. If they cared about palestinians- they would focus on governance and not on provoking war by barbaric terrorist attacks.. Theres plenty more about what this might do for the war in ukraine, for geopolitics, how different countries might react etc- Go learn something. Its at least a more informed guy than some influencer on insta.
Btw seems like a scam post. If you are making 5cr as competition lawyer, you are one of the handful leading comp law lawyers in India. And should already be knowing what the industry numbers are at this point.
A few years ago Luthra Co-founders were making a specific publicly disclosed amount. If current rainmakers in Corp are making such amounts, your numbers are not very far off. However, if you were actually making this much, you would easily have the knowledge/influence to figure out numbers.
LI would be the last place for you to ask.
If you had a more substantive reply to anything I said you would. Thats fine - I dont want to shame you for just not knowing better- but really- this is a complex thing that is anything but straightforward- you cannot help jews or palestinians from india- but you can atleast consume the news intelligently and not lean in to every bit of nonsense you see on insta.
If you get a full time appointment as Asst Prof in a university then after 3 years of continuous service you will be eligible for study leave to do a PhD as per UGC regulations. As someone else has said, try for a funded position abroad and go.
I require insights into the field of legal journalism.
1. Where can a fresh law graduate work as a legal correspondent? I know Live Law and Bar and Bench. Besides these, does The Print (I admire their investigative journalism) offer opportunities to lawyers seeking to report and write on socio-legal issues?
2. In general, what is the remuneration of the legal journalists/correspondents?
3. What is the work culture in respect of legal journalism? Does one have to work from office or is work from home allowed (excluding the time required for news coverage in various places)?
I am familiar with the work of a NUJS graduate currently working at BBC as a correspondent. Loved his career trajectory.
Please, if anyone can share some information on the above, it would be of great help.
Thanks!
Achchha time pass ho jayega.
LLM se bhi jyada.
I'm in my fourth year and have maintained a decent-ish rank till now. However, I want to explore a bit more (publish, read books) and reduce the time I spend on acads.
If I plan to do an LLM after 2-4 years of work ex - till what semester will my grades count?
TL;DR: Can I afford to slack on acads a but?
after all you are the nations pride industrialist SIR
Above all, try to understand your students. What makes them tick, how to motivate them to do better, be kind while not compromising with your expectations or quality. Best of luck!
No chnc3
Most govt law schools put out advertisements for faculty periodically - you will have to check their websites. In case of private colleges you can write to the HR directly but beware that working conditions are terrible. If you know anyone senior in any institution (including the one where you studied) then definitely speak to them and they may be able to help also. At the very least you should get Visiting Prof status somewhere.
NUSRL was already suffering due to declining student quality but now it got worse with a lot more generic VC
