- which is better in terms of academics (Since NLSIU offers only 2 specialisation whereas NALSAR offers more specialisations and even a General LLM)
- What are the job prospects after pursuing LLM in NLSIU or NALSAR
- How is student life in NALSAR and NLSIU for a LLM student and is the schedule managable ?
I don't think there's any parameter where NUJS offers a better experience over NLUD (except partying), and corp job if you really want you will get from any top-5 law school.
So we only compete among our own category. So there are no such division and clamour.
Iβm a 2nd year student from a t-1 NLU and Iβll be starting my corp. law internship somewhere around may next year. I have recently finished my SC internship under the ASG of India and the work I got there included mere copy-pasting LODs and 1-2 lines opinions, from which I learned absolutely nothing that would add up to my knowledge. Plus, while I was observing the court proceedings and the general court environment, Iβve come to a conclusion (after having done internships at HC and District Court as well) that Litigation is not for me as itβs a complete hassle and I want something that is more streamlined and straightforward as a career-path and I believe a career in corporate law would suit my needs. I just wanted to know as to what kind of work would I be entrusted upon at a Law Firm (inclusive of all the teams except dispute resolution) internship that I must be ready to face when the opportunity arises. Also, kindly tell the expectations that
However, the truth is that I have rebuffed such advances because I only want to get involved with someone with who I have a lot in common and can connect emotionally with. Many guys would happily say yes to marrying rich girls, but I am not obsessed with money and I really hate the Delhi culture of showing off wealth. I don't buy ANY luxury brands. I even want to switch to policy research, as a few of my friends have done. Perhaps then I won't seem so attractive! π
So, for now, still waiting for the right girl.... βΉοΈ Also dreading going to weddings and meeting pushy aunties.... π«£
Thanks!
moreover clat ranks don't decide who does well in college, so you might actually be better than those 'merit' students!
Your CLAT/ AILET rank will not matter for placements.
I think they dominate Competition, Projects (along with us), and even Cap Markets these days. They are always representing someone in M&A deals involving major Investors. My friend works at Tri and claims he has seen the firm bill obnoxious amounts of dollars to its foreign clients for transactions in which the Indian leg was insignificant.
They are not gambling their own money by introducing higher pay bands and hiring aggressively these days, there is an apparent need for resources. They do not need to do all such things as people would still be willing to work with them even if it was paying at par with SCAM or even Indus.
WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH THIS GEN? SERIOUSLY!!!
On the food and drinking scene, you'll pretty much get everything on campus as swiggy and zomato work just fine with a 70/80 rupee delivery charge. The city has cute cafes and the rooftop ones near Mehrangarh are a uniquely jodhpur phenomenon that you must experience with friends in the evening when the fort gets lit up.
Utilize these 5 years properly and ensure you keep doing something other than just acads and college activities, explore the city and if budget permits, rajasthan has great places to see and most of them are about 4-5 hours away from jodhpur due to its central location. I personally have loved the experience of living in a tier 2 city after coming from a metro - it wouldn't have happened if it weren't for college. It makes you realise that there is a life beyond delhi/mumbai/bangalore and much of India still lives outside these places.
ALSC has an institutionalised framework to assist freshers and I would suggest you to actively approach seniors as most of them would be happy to help - use your school/city/coaching networks to find people and they would be able to guide you in a much better manner in my personal experience.
So you exercise your sovereignty and write whatever you like. It may get binned, just like IL. Good lux.
Why are you asking rhetorical questions?
If you're looking for a corp job, don't think twice and join NALSAR. It outperforms NLUD in placements by a mile. If you're interested in Academia, research, govt. exams, NLUD would be a more prudent choice.
The quality of high intake private colleges like SLSP with 300 kids is pretty shit and while NLS is undoubtedly in a higher league than Symbi, a massive batch size will destroy the strong sense of community in the top NLUs which leads to even ordinary students achieving extraordinary outcomes.
SDL is like a wedding venue with a pool, most of the alcohol parties are organised there only.
Nearest Market area is Mandore roughly 1Km from the campus gate, you can utilise the campus shuttle bus, Auto or the City Bus to reach there, we have a place called Mandore Garden where you can hang out.
People typically venture into the city to hang out as most of the good cafes and restaurants are there only, roughly 10km from the college. (Old City and Sardarpura)
2) The schedule is hectic, there have been days where I had 10 days of continuous tests and assignments back to back, but it is manageable you will get used to it.
The pattern is roughly like this per law subject:
4 Continuous Assessments along with a CRE (Moot) a project/midterms and a final end-term.
I have noticed changes with the arrival of the new VC, it has roughly been 2-3 months since her arrival, let's give her some time to see the complete results, but one thing is for sure she is much better than Poonam Pradhan Saxena.
3) I would recommend you prefer BBA LLB as BA faculty marks very badly, especially the History faculty, granted the BBA faculty is more strict but the mark disparity is very clear.
As you study BA/BBA till the third year choose wisely as a wrong stream selection will make your life a lot harder.
4) The ASLC has a mentorship program where each fresher receives a mentor from a pool of volunteer 3-5th Year students.
Ragging (As some of my peers like to refer it as Positive Interaction) is quite common and something which the university turns a blind eye to (atleast the Poonam Pradhan Saxena era administration) you can definitely avoid the same just takes a little effort.
But there are some stupid rules created like you cannot walk on the grass, not wear shorts and not hangout in places near the campus etc.(I personally did not follow even a single one, you may choose to follow or not follow the same)
I am studying here on a loan and am extremely scared I would need to pay almost 15k per month as emi so I need at least a 25k job
Trolls stay away please
some put the time during clat prep and college, you will have to do it only during college
just the way life is, be grateful and don't think too much about it
will you struggle? probably yes, but so will everyone
I've seen many exceptions to the general norm of the "general" category being in the top 20/30, be that exception
We are all vaccinated and need to live with covid. But insisting lawyers to come to office between Christmas and New Year's when there's hardly any work is pathetic. Work from home works and the firm could have declared it for one week.
Does CAM not care about the health of it's lawyers?
play your cards well in BBA (read: cozy up to the right teachers in BBA) and you will sail through without ever worrying about your GPA
AILET went really well for me this year and my AILET rank is <60 so Iβm fairly confident I will get into NLUD as well.
Now the question is, which one do I pick? Iβm from Hyderabad so NALSAR would be closer to home and it has been my dream college since forever lol. But Iβm worried me being there with reservation might have a negative effect on my college life. Is NALSAR hostile towards people with reservation? Will this affect me in the future? Does your CLAT rank matter at the time of placements? If not, I will choose NALSAR only.
OTOH, I would be getting into NLUD through general category. And if AILET rank matters during placements I wouldnβt be at a disadvantage.
Iβve heard great things about both universities and am okay with either as I feel like theyβre both almost on the same level (pls correct me if Iβm wrong).
Wrote clat and ailet again and am getting nalsar and nlud this time.
OP, before college starts I suggest you visit campus and see if youβd be comfortable there, if you can live off campus etc. If not, consider doing what I did or atleast apply to NLUJ when they announce vacancies.
Itβs not gonna happen lol and for good reason.
It opens up a huge can of worms where if you conduct it in a certain few regional languages, people will demand for it to be conducted in ten other languages and say they are at a disadvantage.
And remember, I could see a clear diff on how people handles me and a NLU kid during internships (Experience from TT&A)
And yes, TNNLU is no more tier 3
