1. Be kind, respectful and helpful to each other.
2. Be bona fide, truthful, genuine and curious.

I have seen many A0s not knowing this and I feel having mastered these skilla while starting would have given them some edge to smoothly settle in with the team.
Please also get familiar with compliances relating to share capital under CA 2013 and investment compliances under FEMA NDI Rules, the rest you can take up as and when they come.

Salary growth is slower than private sector but regulators are really good pay masters. In 5 years assuming you will be Manager your pay will be around 28-30 lakhs as CTC as value of perks increases a lot.
Law firms hire people from certain experiences which are directly relevant. Not every department is of relevance for law firms and unlike in the past when you could fool firms with your connection it is not true today. Many seniors after retirement act as consultants which serves purpose of law firms but if you get experience with EFD and Investigation Department firms would be more than happy to factor your experience.
So get together, identify your key asks, engage with the alumni and the wider public and shower the hell fire on those idiots in the admin and the faculty. I see from the web-page that your acting vc was a former judge and typically these guys are very concerned about their public image - so dont waste time and strike when the iron is hot.
Complaining here wont change anything. this is at best a forum for people to signal each other that there are people who think alike.

X wanted to be perpetual Registrar and manipulated creation of a Special Officerβs post .Was appointed to this post after βstepping downβ from his intended -perpetuity . Now itβs a cover up with another post he has taken up in some public corporation in Calicut . But he has been given a lien on his post at NUALS (ironically lien was denied to two former full time teachers ) . Mr X is omnipresent and is scheduled to return any time . These people have amassed disproportionate wealth during their tenures . There should be an independent judicial /vigilance enquiry into all appointments made and other financial misdeeds during the term of X and Sunny.
And fortunately there are few who have detailed information regarding these . Will try to get info.
Bottom line : students here are victims paying huge sums upfront for below-par services . Students are cash cows for them . They donβt give a damn about student welfare ; with the welfare officer being the biggest jerk.
Hope it will help who genuinely wants to know

2. If the opinion of others and mine is irrelevant to you, then why keep engaging with it? The reason is that your opinion is the minority opinion and nobody outside NLUD agrees with you, hence your desperate need for validation on anon platforms.
3. Now that you have been marked trollish too, it must hurt.

Like in all exams, the definition of a cut off is the minimum marks needed for a person with no affirmative action. E.g. in most exams, the General cutoff is cited for preparation purposes. So, I did that here. The truth is institutions like NLS or any Sarkari institute do not care about anyone. They get innumerable applications from talented individuals every year. Isiliye, apna bhala dekhna zaruri hai.
Ab political correctness, inclusive, engendered, they/them heropanti karna hai toh kariye. Baad me high cut-off dekh ke LI pe aake rona.

Yay or nay?
Understood?
Also, what about making friends and dating if someone is not from a rich family? Will one feel left out?
I have no corp experience. Whatever is stated below is on the basis of lit experience alone. The answer is slightly long- read or ignore, totally your call.
This reply isn't with an intent to discourage you, but only for you to have a fair idea before you come to any decision.
1. It is not just about having legal contacts. It is just as much about having really strong social contacts and robust networks, even more so, as a first generation Advocate. It is at times depressingly uphill. You need a fat, fat degree of patience. You need a thick skin.
2. Sorry to say this, but with utmost respect to the seats of justice, you do observe the degree of difference, how so ever slight, when you appear with or for your relative who is your senior at the Bar, as against when you appear as a first gen. The Bar treats you as an outsider. Naturally, so - none of them have known you growing up. You enter as an outsider, after almost two decades of your lifetime. You have to watch their face fall slightly when they ask you if you are related to someone who has the same last name as your own, and you respond saying that you are not really related to that individual.
3. Your own family often cannot fathom the nature of your work. They are unable to understand why is the earning so, so low. This applies whether you are from economically comfortable circumstances, or even otherwise. At times, it is not even because they want to kick you when you're already down low; it is truly not easy for them to understand the entire system.
4. Money is low in the initial years, no real guarantee of better fortunes later. Social life in the early day at least, isn't very charming. Seeing your peers in other careers doing well really doesn't help with the creeping self doubt.
5. If money even for your own enjoyment, not considering family responsibilities, is important to you, litigation may not be the smartest choice. MBA, any day.
Not worth it, very limited work exposure and partners expectations are very high and they all are annoying.
Let your honeymoon period pass, come back then.

MNLU Nagpur Adjudication is also doing great
And you can also go for Colleges like VIPS/USLLS/Jamia/BHU etc. etc. (If you get nothing).
Reading is the job with law. theres little else to it. Court craft and jugaad and all that cannot make up for reading things. wanting to be a lawyer and whining that reading is difficult is like wanting to be a surgeon and hating touching people or holding a scalpel. thats the whole damn job. this isnt business school. why go to law school and steal a seat away from someone who could actually handle reading a case if youre that averse to it?
Pehle exam nikal lo. Phir maar karna.
Teachers: How many of them can even converse in proper English? One of them takes student seminars from the very first class to avoid lectures. Another senior one runs on βaccentβ. Few of them runs bogus centres . Ever thought of asking about qualifications of these people ? Well one of the former employees did . He was forced to leave. Administration: Voyeuristic pleasure is what unites most imbeciles in administration here. βWatchingβ students 24/7 relieves their sexual frustration. Adminsitration reminding a terminally ill student of her fate is just a stark reminder of the unsympathetic and unapologetic money-minded group which runs this school. Hostel is a mess. Rumours say that a huge sum was siphoned off from Hostel funds during (by) βSunnyβ days. Corruption and casteism reign supreme.
Witnessing the βwithering awayβ of a law school.
1) 1.2 lakh in hand with or without accommodation?
2) What's the progression? How much will you be earning in hand, post 5 odd years down the line
3) How does one stand in the market post leaving SEBI legal? Do law firms take them? Or its back to stage 1?
