I know this is pretty last minute but please help me out. i am law student just entering fourth year. I am interested in IBC. have good commercial litigation experience so any commercial lit or corporate restructuring firm works for me
What do universities require: "managerial competence" or academic rigour? I think the latter is far more important. As for "managerial competence", not suffering fools is, I think, a key component of that.
It would be nice to have a day bed in nice to recover from my third consecutive all nighter, while I wait for the client to return with their round of comments :(
Get an offer, give them a late joining date, then quit and take your break before starting the next gig.
Almost all firms other than CAM and SAM, conduct GDs.

AZB is the only one that doesn't shortlist basis rank, they do their shortlisting in the GI rounds
BUMP!!! Please let us know if the TMT here is looking to hire, and which team precisely? Heard JJ, TV & NN are hiring? How true??
Nobody cares about an anonymous platform like LI. Visitors count here has dropped 80%.
Do they ask quite technical questions in the interview? Or is it broadly problem-based depending upon connections/normal application?
Its doesn’t matter. The current job market is brutal. You can keep a top NLU tag and try your best, doesnt mean anything.
I am in same situation. I also want to quit my litigation job without an offer in hand. However, I am confident that I will get another job.
Just pray that the Supreme Court will have enough of a spine to uphold the basic structure doctrine if it comes to that
Spending 70 Lakhs for a law degree is NOT WORTH IT. IF you are a first gen lawyer and from Science background...think 1000 times before pursuing law. Getting a decent job after graduation is extremely difficult in law compared to science fields.
Our corporate office has a small stationary bike as gym, which will do nothing to burn off all those samosas and puffs being served as evening snacks
Future will be only merger control work and no enforcement for a while cause of coram.
SAM doesn't have much work as they used to earlier. The best place to have good competition law work is AZB and NKU's. Rest of the firms are like nothing as compared to both of them.
Just keep working hard, and get into litigation, you'll soon earn what you paid in fees in a month or less, and don't make the mistake of joining a law firm or a company, your career would be ruined
I got AZB and Cam, should I join or leave for a foreign LLM that I got accepted to. Is academia better than law firm in the long run ?
Once Sudhir is out, they will appoint a state government professor as the next VC. Mark my words. And with the increase in batch size and fees. It's gonna drop. Also private universities with bigger budget and more power are going to capture the market soon.
MBA hone se bete ko company mei naukri nahi milegi mere naam se. Par law mei aaram se chamber and clients mil jayenge. Even judgeship mil jayega.
MBA degree hai job nahi. Company baap/maa ke naam pe job nahi deti. Unlike law, jaha degree se jyada baap/maa kaun hai wo depend karta hai. Litigation and judiciary mei zara nazar marna, first gen vs traditional families par, pata chal jayega.
True. If you're a guy you'd end up spending lakhs in your relationship and lose focus and all neither get a job or a relation. If you're a girl the rumor of you being a train will spread quickly and you'll end up with an abortion.
Does it offer a PhD? If it doesn't that means the law school isn't well equipped to handle the fresh batch. A PhD course means enough professors to be advisors, and a cohort of new teachers coming in. One professor per 100 students doesn't make sense
DMD. Try to work under the partner who recently moved from LKS. He's excellent.
So this guy who keeps on copy pasting Paul Craig's name in every NLSIU related post like it's a get out of jail for free card isn't trolling, but one who calls him out is? Weird!
When partners move how are client conflicts handled. The market is only so big. So you act for your existing client or the client the new partner brings?
Shortlists are prepared solely based on your batch rank. Trilegal and Khaitan have GDs, others have interveiws
I know NLUD slipped but did NUJS slipped though ? They had over 55 + PPO(s) for BO'26
Just don't.

Even if you're capable of it, your international LLM from Cambridge would cost you around 70 lakhs... And atleast that's intellectually worth the money.
That's also because the probability of the average of all those virtues to exist in an NLS grad is much higher than one of a tier-2 NLU. I am not comparing individuals here, but their institutes, and the volume of deserving candidates produced by them each year.
You sound very confused about your future pathways and interests. Consider visiting a ca reer counsellor for proper advice and also to assess your strengths and aptitude.
Ah yes, because after a full day at the firm being surrounded by lawyers, the obvious way to unwind is to spend even more time with lawyers. No thanks.
Being an exceptionally intelligent academic does not automatically imply managerial competence. Quite an extrapolation for a lawyer
Umn so? You pick the books of any big company and one of their buggy expense items is legal. Sometimes the fees paid to a senior advocate during a FY can be the top 5 biggest expense item.
2 years PQE: Sector Banking & Finance: 22 (fixed) +1.5 variable. (Not ICICI Bank)
Are you a guy or girl, and are you interested in opposite sex, same sex or both? Answer depends on a number of these factors
Please read the judgment of the 7 judge bench in PA Inamdar v State of Maharashtra (2005). It will be an uphill climb trying to overturn that one.
Fair enough. How can institutions that can't even place 50% of their students (NLSIU, NALSAR, and NLUD) be compared to GNLU? We're not even in the same league. Do I now need to share space with the unemployed?
b0'27 here, can a government actually take up this? I mean the government can't force firms to hire but this is a serious issue, lot of money has been pooled into the education, and a lot of sweat has been flowed
only partner word has value, even PAs mail gets overruled by HR citing accommodation reasons
Good direct tax litigation firms in Delhi to join as an intern.
So basically they superceded all the Delhi and Mumbai Sr. Partners who have been at the helm of litigation. Awesome!
Wont do anything to plug the leak in the dam. They think they landed a patakha but actually go phuss!!
Trolls again.
Look at Ganloo's placements, it's just below NLS NALSAR NUJS, and above NLUJ.

Although GNLU trolls on this website are a nuisance, the college itself is T1 for solid 5-6 years now
Some of us are too ugly to attract people at clubs and parties, this is the wrong kinda advice.
10 lacs is the actual cost of education at BITSLaw. The remaining 60 lacs is for them to leech on the BITS Pilani 'brand'.
How do firms shortlist students during Day-Z? Which firms conduct Group Discussion, amongst the Tier-1s?
Has anyone heard about where the event is happening, heard it was as westin last year in Mumbai and that they typically book out a hotel for us.
So he never worked hard and became established by his own hard work? All was his father's doing. Sure. Will love to see what these cringe 1st gens say when their kids take up law and get bashed like this
Update: A faculty source has said off the record that the GC and EC will be reconstituted sometime next month. ASG Vikramjit Banerjee (who actually used to be a lecturer at NUJS a long time ago) is expected to be inducted.
Why do you want to do this? The compliances will soon be automated, do your research- there are plenty of legal tech solutions to this issue. Dont fall for a niche like this pls. Also its not very well paying. IMHO
A red carpet welcome is ensured in these top chambers if you get the right connections to make one friendly phone call he he he
Those who are appreciating should this had never happened in the history of India that too for a reason because it was supposed not to happen
Hardly surprising figures - Rs. 20 lakhs is not even enough for one hearing for Salve. Arun Kathpalia charges something like 7.5 lakhs per hearing - so total of maybe 10 hearings.
How is the team culture at Lex Consult? Also curious about compensation levels for Associate/Associate Trainee positions, work-life balance, quality of work, and overall growth opportunities. Would appreciate any recent insights from current or former team members.
How was 26 bad ? NUJS had 55+ PPO(s), NLS and GNLU with 40 and NALSAR had pretty great placements as well
SAM Ahmedabad disputes and tri b&f mumbai are both hiring. Consider reaching out to them
cam joining date is august aug 17 for most, and aug 2 for a few dedicated hires
mnlu mumbai in the past years has performed very well in intl moots. They've been breaking for jessup and stetson for 3 years straight. Obv nowhere near these other colleges, but as a new uni they're doing fabulously
Thank God it is not LC. His role during and after the PIB eviction was an eye opener. Most just remember the Princeling.
The CM is the law minister. Also there is talk that the CM official residence (unlike the trumped up shed house) will be a state irrigation dept bunglow in Salt Lake. So will the CM attend EC of NUJS or leave it to MoS?
nope, went through the entire recruitment process, himani was the sole poc and collete reaffirmed multiple times that she is not handling PPOs.
No hiring of freshers. At this stage, law is very much a ponzi scheme with only the universities making money.
It's like a couple name.

SAM + CAM = SCAM

(At least that's the censored reason!)
JSA will be at loss. I heard atleast 4-5 Partners moving along with all team members. One is dispute Partner (Delhi) and one is Projects (Mumbai).
What happens to the EPs he made from his book. What will happen to them? Will they survive at JSA if he takes that portion of the book too?
All JSA does is offer unpaid extensions and make you do Associate Level work, ID say its easier then? Just ask your partner, they love free work.
The firm bosses definitely know - it's a moment of who's gonna spill the tea first
He was anyways due to mandatorily retire in barely a couple of years so if he wanted to continue working he had to move on somewhere. Not too big of a deal at this stage honestly.
Fresher hiring in next 3-4 yrs will get drastically affected at T1s due to AI models.
Broseph/ brosephine drop an email to the HR portal and keep following up with your request in person with the HR on site

This is the only way - coming from an ex-JSA attorney
Trilegal is but a fool's paradise. Yes, you will succeed if you are diligent and consistent.

Diligently sucking up to the tier(s) above and consistently contributing to the partner in question’s pockets
Fair objection, have untagged contested from the post. It uses slight hyperbole at the end, but perhaps that is acceptable as rhetorical, rather than assertions of absolute fact.
I had a query wrt the procedure for obtaining an extension in JSA. I am currently interning at their New Delhi office. Would be grateful if anyone sheds any light on this
The market values skills, coachability, work ethic, and, of course, intelligence. NLS is an outstanding institution and serves as a proxy for those attributes to an extent, but not to the point where firms will automatically dish out offers on that basis alone
Hi, I am looking for internship opportunities in Lucknow at the district court in the months of June and July. Can anyone please give me suggestions about some practising advocates and how I can reach out to them
associates acting like senior associates, with no subject knowledge so no-one to guide you, they dont know basic stuff, credit hogging and no growth. seniors, nepo-hires, favvv people gets paid tons of money, rest all start at 35k.
Add. Q. Has he ever hired any person with a pure background in indirect tax? ( A person who is looking for a switch)
Someone commented here that US partners make millions. Yes, that's true but only if you become equity. The recent trend is that everyone gets promoted to NEP (income partner) and then its a struggle to get to equity.
Can anyone share who did these firms ended up being known by this very acronym as in the title? Really curious 🧐
