My husband has been unwell for the past few weeks. I have worked in the firm long enough. None of the partners or seniors are bothered to check on you or even reply to your email about family crisis.
I still get emails and follow ups for work eventhough i am struggling with icu formalities.
My immediate boss hasnt even bothered acknowledging my emails and updates… a get well soon or a perfunctory let me know if you need anything is out of question.
Is this normal?

@OP - Nothing is more important than your and your loved ones health. If you are not dependent on your salary to pay out the medical bills, please leave. This is not normal. I hope your husband recovers fast. More power to you guys. Stay strong! :)
I don't think chambers have retainership contracts with notice period clauses. What am I missing?
He's always one sentence away from saying "you're eating food because of me, be forever in my debt". Even when they do help out in a situation - everyone will keep reminding you 'subtly' about those 'favours'.
The day I build a good book of my own, I'm leaving this place. Working for a good organization matters to me much more than the money I make.
CAM has a very strong culture of favoritism (read MP's licking) when it comes to giving work to partners.
It's an absolute case of emperor has no clothes.
One person talks about themself as a great visionary Pharoah and treats us all like slaves who should be grateful for being allowed to build the pyramids.
And then WORST are people who feed into this narcissistic behaviour. They have tears of gratitude (no joke!)... It may be genuine (I can never be like that!) but unhealthy as fuck. It is not loyalty, it is an unhealthy dependency / stockholm syndrome...
The homegrown people of CAM are somewhat like Americans. Believe in their own exceptionalism with no real basis.

This is exactly the attitude that CAM seniors i am dealing with have.
And if you are not that person, I feel for you. The partner / senior should have shown sincere concern and offer to help. Be there. But, I wonder, how mature you are to make it a Firm level issue. It can only be partner specific, your relationship specific. Firm is nothing, at the end of the day, it is an assembly of people. We all are mature, everyone in the firm does not and cannot have any way to know what one person is facing. Their responsibility is to be there if they know, in which "your senior" at the firm failed.
you are not ill so it is casual leave(word casual simply means non-self medical).
your question did not say you were on a salary cut or what. it creates a moral right for status quo (payment) from a business which you are not attending to for many weeks.

Its very unfortunate what happened and hope your husband recovers. Please escalate to HR.
I had an entirely different experience with my reporting partners at CAM. If I have a family.emergency or on sick leave, my partners are quick respond and enquire on my well being on a regular basis.
At the end of the day it depends on which team you're and who's your partner.
