What amuses me:
1. One of the cofounders himself has been liking posts on LinkedIn about the BHC judgment;
2. Holders of INR 1 cr foreign LLM in human rights were working at Vidhi, on a high horse for not working for an "evil corporate lala firm";
3. Every law student who chose to join a firm but was ridiculed by people belonging to (2) has been partly vindicated. What their firms are doing may not be great but Vidhi is DIRECTLY involved in creating the legislations actively harming democracy;
4. For all of this, Vidhi was supposedly only asking for INR 8-9 lakhs. Lmao
There are paraphrasing tools in the market, such as Quillbot. These tools work by allowing you to input a paragraph, which they then rewrite or refine in different ways. Please note that they do not generate new content but simply rewrite what you have already written in a different way. To make my research paper appear more polished, I used Quillbot. At that time, I had no idea what ChatGPT was. Unfortunately, if you use paraphrasing software and then run your text through AI detection tools, it flags your work as AI-generated, even if it's not.
Recently, during an interview, I had a hard time convincing them that I didn't use ChatGPT for my paper. I eventually had to remove my publication from my resume.
Also, what is the difference between the job profile of a Consultant at Big4 and an Associate in a Law Firm?
Thank you.
It is a sole proprietorship of the labour law partner and has a total of maximum of 3-4 lawyers and one/two admin staff at any given point. No concept of HR in a firm that size obviously, so good luck escalating any issues. The culture is more relaxed when compared to Tier 1/2 law firms and you may have your weekends to yourself. Although, this might not be the same in the labour and employment vertical. There also might be long periods where one might not find any work in the corporate vertical and will be dumped with work from the labor vertical. โฎโฎโฎ culture is questionable if put simply, the pay and bonus are low and entirely depend on โฎโฎโฎ [long passage of examples redacted] All in all a good learning experience and a great place to work for (6 months until you find something else :)). Goodluck
I have heard that he is a really nice partner. But is bnf as a prac area very scary?
Respect chaiye toh uske baad social service karne lagna
This can fix me.
The co interns are locals and have friends..any suggestions ? I know nobody here
It's also disingenuous because it sounds like PR for NFSU. Part of me really feels sorry for responding with the comment about degree options, because somebody has chosen to turn this debate back towards the direction of dick measuring contests (which I was hoping could be avoided), by piggybacking on my earlier reply.
Similarly for corporate forensics... I don't think we need any more than a strong understanding of accountancy & bookkeeping here.
These frankly seems like science degrees with LLB slapped on, rather than law degrees being paired with a field of study that could be used to advance the understanding & practice of law itself.
Just my two cents. Feel free to disagree.
1. Management.
2. Consulting.
3. UPSC.
Just here to say that even if we were to adopt the OP's worldview completely, I think the call to 'replace' a BA LLB degree is uncharitable, and therefore disappointing. I think a much wiser call would be for NLUs to provide more programme options (i.e., providing students with the option to register for a BA LLB or BSC LLB or BBA LLB degree). The world's reputable universities have done this, e.g., providing students with the options to study Law and Criminology, Law and Politics, Law and History, Law and Business, English Law and French Law etc., so why can't a place with a strong reputation like NLSIU do something like that in the context of our circumstances as well?
Thanks in advance
To say that "caste, feminism" etc. has no practical relevance for a lawyer...seems trollish. The only reason I've not marked this trollish is because you seek a "rational counter".
Let's deal with it point-wise, I guess:
Re: 1 - Why is an ideal end-goal for a law graduate a management job? In any case, if some people are specifically inclined towards that, they can opt for it - no need to replace BA with BSc.
Re: 2 - You're right, knowledge of accounting principles etc. does help somewhat, especially at things like commercial litigation/white collar crimes. But then an MBBS helps you understand bodily injury-crimes better (I regularly consult doctors for insights into MLCs, PM Reports, etc.). ALL knowledge really helps you have an edge in some manner. A BA degree similarly helps you understand the society better, and gives you an edge in the constitutional matters/writ practice. That by itself is no reason to place one of those at a higher pedestal than another.
Re: 3 & 4 - Umm. Okay. Not really a separate point, is it? The response stated hereinabove be read in response to 3 and is not being repeated herein for the sake of brevity (I know, I'm being cheeky).
So BSc & MBA will help you better deal with AI/climate change/business, you claim. But what about criminal matters, election petitions, constitutional law cases, social-rights litigation etc.?
Is this true? Can someone please confirm? Their HR is quite useless.
20 L per hearing wala litigation kar le
All the best!
The placements haven't improved one bit, being just as bad as they were before Faizan's arrival. With just two PPOs for batch of 2025 (one of of which is non-law domain), I keep regretting every day why I chose to study here.
Without sounding insensitive, don't you think the EY conundrum has blown out of proportion?
The work life is balance is worse at law firms but nobody cares.
2. MBA apart, a BBA will teach you practically useful stuff like accounting, investing, managing projects etc. This, in turn, will make you more in demand in the job market and also empower you better to found your own company.
3. Tech and AI are the future. A BSc degree, if it includes subjects like coding, will be an asset. Also, add subjects like bio and environmental science and you can add value in jobs related to climate change.
4. In contrast, just look at the BA curriculum: no practical relevance in studying judicial administration in colonial India, the Constituent Assembly, โฎโฎโฎ etc
I challenge anyone to rationally counter me on any of these points (instead of just impulsively voting because you want to defend your BALLB degree).
The SRP team under her is a failed attempt by the CM practice head at breaking into the Securities practice. Her team hasnโt done significant work apart from the (failed) representation during the PNBHFL SEBI/SAT matter a few years back and the current representation in the PAYTM matter.
On the contrary, Yogesh Chande's securities practice is much more successful and less toxic. Yogesh advises on much more varied matters and is an old hand. In contrast, Manjiri is a CM lawyer masquerading as a securities lawyer, and Prashant is only qualified in English law (or so he claims).
If possible, apply to YCs team.
Hope this helps!

As a student do you find it demeaning traveling by train?
The query is based on the background that I keep reading teams having a senior partner and 5-6 or even more partners. This is not about firms but a particular team within a firm. Also, wondering does it make sense at mid senior level to stick in a team which already has these many partners if the aim is to move to partnership eventually.

See... you can't even get ad hominem right. I'll bet you anything you like that if my name (let us call me 'X' for now) became known as being that of someone who defends Sudhir on here or who agrees/expresses agreement with those who do, Sudhir will ask, 'Who on earth is this nobody of a graduate student in London?', and will happily produce bank statements/other documentation constituting a paper trail proving that he has nothing to do with me (and I will be happy to do likewise). So unless you are suggesting that somehow both of us have enough money at our personal disposal to open secret accounts in the sorts of places where they don't ask questions and just care about the money flowing into the account, you will really have to reconsider your ideas, and come up with a more plausible (false) accusation/line of attack.
