I recently finished an assessment with a Tier-2 firm and I’m just waiting to hear back about an interview call. Apart from that, I don’t really have a solid backup right now. Cold emailing also doesn’t seem to be working anymore.
I’ve mostly done corporate law, so I’m not really looking at chambers/litigation at this point. Just feeling a bit stuck and honestly pretty stressed about how things are looking right now. Would really help to hear if others have been in a similar spot and how you dealt with it.
I have read a lot of posts here regarding the irrelevance of LLM if I want to go into Corporate later but the thing is I don't have a lot of options right now. Only offer I got was for 7LPA after applying on my own.
My main aim will be regulatory exams with corporate just as a backup, if I don't crack anything till my LLM ends.
My UG was from a Tier 2 NLU. Also before someone suggests a foreign degree, it is not economically feasible for me.
It's the first time since 1973 that an Indian has won the best speaker award. An achievement to cherish!

- Couldn't get placed at a T1 Law Firm and might have a shot at a T2/T3.
- Used to be one of those chaps who would judge my seniors back then who couldn't get placed at a T1 (karma hitting back now).
- Right now peeps from my batch who made it to a T1 are at all ego boost.
I want to know for how long will people actually care about the fact that I have to settle for a smaller brand?
People who are actually in profession, do they judge your merit based on from what firm did you start?

Parent legislation’s never spell out benefits. They make schemes possible though that do give benefits. The 2019 act has non discrimination provisions for transgender persons and enjoins the appropriate government to make a range of schemes including reservations and free healthcare for transgender persons. The schemes themselves are introduced by appropriate ministries. There’s a number of benefits you get through this - free surgery hormones therapy laser all that through SMILE. Reservations in a number of government jobs through schemes enacted by state governments. And men could and did even identify as women and contest in women’s reserved seats in municipal elections.
No parent act ever spells out all the schemes. It enables executive to make schemes. Within the enactment itself there’s a number of non discrimination rights that are enumerated that apply to transgender persons.
A 19 would give you the right to believe whatever you want to. Subscribe to any religious beliefs about the sacred importance of gender as you like. It does not extend to - the state must also have those beliefs. The people of this country are entirely free to believe in Christianity, Islam or Hinduism or anything else. But that doesn’t entail the state to pass religious laws that recognise Christ is king or that allah is the one true god or to state Jai Shree Ram.
A 19 let’s me believe any number of things about myself - that I’m a 5 year old for example or that I’m a dalit- but the state isn’t required to believe me when I spout obvious falsehoods.
Despite their effort and long hours, young associates are sometimes reprimanded harshly—even late at night—for tasks whose deadlines are still days away. It raises important questions about leadership and empathy in such environments. Have some senior professionals become so consumed by ambition that they have forgotten their own early struggles? Why does such insensitivity persist, and what normalizes it?
Are these the lawmakers, or the protectors of law and justice? Justice—do they even understand what the word truly means? If this is the reality, then the country is headed for serious concern… a future where many lawyers may find themselves struggling with stress, seeking therapy, and battling depression. And if the very system meant to uphold fairness begins to erode the well-being of those within it, one must pause and reflect—if those entrusted to uphold justice cannot practice empathy and fairness within their own profession, what kind of justice can they truly deliver to society?
