Forget in house counsels, I am privy to live cases where clients (without any in house legal) have used Chat GPT to generate legal notices for claims. The notices seemed more meticulous and slicker than any which would have been drafted by a lawyer !

There are many important issues people wish to talk about, but i'm afraid LI just seems to kill the conversation with its excessively delayed moderation of each post or reply. Do something about it LI. Also many comments are deleted or not published. I can understand posts being blocked for using abusive language etc. but seriously LI, stop killing freedom of speech.

Hey, the HR will get in touch with you. CAM processes PPOs in bundles, with an average waiting time of around 1-2 months (so patience is key). Usually, the HR will directly contact your placement committee. They'll get in touch with hem to verify your marks, rank etc. (you placement committee will usually tell you when this happens). I’m part of the 2026 batch and recently got placed in a T1 firm’s Indirect Tax practice. I’ve interned fairly extensively in IDT across different firms and with smaller practitioners, so I’m not walking in completely blind, but I’d be lying if I said I’m not nervous about the probation period.

I started on June 1st, and the 6-month probation feels like it’s looming over everything. I know the work itself (drafting, research, briefings) but I’m worried about things like:

• How to manage the pace and volume of work at a big firm vs. internships

• What seniors actually look for during probation (beyond just “good work”)

• How to handle feedback/criticism without it knocking my confidence

• Tips on building a good rapport with the team early on

• Any common mistakes first-years make that I should watch out for

I’d really appreciate any advice, big or small.

Reading the opinion/'analytical' pieces on B&B and LL makes me want to barf. Many of them are clearly written by AI. Even when the piece is written by a human, the chances of it being a worthwhile read are slim to none. Both these publications really need to exercise greater editorial supervision.

P.S. The claim in the subject line of Aquilaw being “possibly Kolkata’s richest law firm” is assuming KCO and SAM’s Kolkata offices to be separate units, rather than a unified national firm. Also assuming that the three Mandal heirs going their separate ways has made each breakaway firm poorer than the unified Fox & Mandal.

go ahead, if you dig deep into the NRI quota judgements the reasons were two fold to give students who were really NRIs the opportunity to come back and study in India, as they might have studied elsewhere in the world they would not be really able to compete in the entrance exam etc. the second reason was to get foreign currency. both these reasons do not apply to 90% of NRI candidates now, they do their schooling from India and get the NRI sponsorship certificate from one of their relatives outside India, the money also does not come from outside India, it is paid by the candidate themselves. so none of the original reasons are upheld today. it has become as the post above mentioned a way to subsidise the other seats. best example is GNLU.

This happens in foreign firms too - let's not get critical of how firms function in India without any idea of how it works overseas. The racism is both overt and covert. It's impossible to have survived AZB for so long but then cut it at BnM - probably got mistreated for skin tone or accent. As for credit - there is none given willingly, unless the client does first. However given the current climate, most clients partake rather than recognize.
