Amarchand, KJSV, Saikrishna win, tie points in Delhi T20 Pools B, C

Amarchand Mangaldas, KJSV and Saikrishna Associates from pool B and C defeated Karanjawala & Co, Suri & Co and Khaitan & Co respectively in a set of matches played for the Society of Indian Law Firms (SILF) Cup in the TURF Twenty20 tournament during this weekend.

On Saturday only a single match took place that ended with KJSV (Khaitan, Jayakar, Sud & Vohra) scoring a strong total of 144 against Suri & Co which went all out for 114 in 17.1 overs. KJSV strategy of first electing to bat proved successful and the firm won by 30 runs and a bonus point.

KJSV batsman Amrinder Singh who made a total of 41 runs with four fours was declared the man of the match.

The first match held on Sunday between Amarchand and Karanjawala & Co resulted in an easy victory for Amarchand’s team that matched the 106 total set up by its opponent, scoring 109 runs in just 14 overs for a loss of two wickets.

Karanjawala despite winning the toss lost against Amarchand which had a bonus point win of 8 wickets. Amarchand batsman Prashant Mehta won the man of the match title with 44 runs in 38 balls, including eight fours. Karanjawala batsman Murli Kaushik was not out over 65 balls with 56 runs.

Khaitan & Co’s decision to field first after winning the toss did not prove lucky as Saikrishna Associates won by 41 runs with a bonus point in the second match of pool B played on Sunday. Saikrishna’s daunting total of 180 runs was the highest total of this weekend’s matches and led to their victory after team Khaitan & Co exhausted all 20 overs to score only 139 runs for a loss of 7 wickets.

Saikrishna bowler Shashikant for his contribution picked up the man of the match title for felling four wickets and conceding 19 runs in four overs.

The fourth match between Kochhar & Co and Anand & Anand has now been rescheduled for next week.

Except for Khaitan & Co from pool B and Suri & Co from pool C, six other teams in both pools now have five points in the overall points tally.

Luthra & Luthra and Titus & Co respectively lead Pools A and D with 10 points, with Dua Associates on 9 points in Pool D, following the previous week’s matches.

I heard that Manish Bhai scored a half century and took 5 wickets in just 7 balls he bowled....including a hatric.....is it true.....?? Dua should have done some 'dua' before the match....

Congrats Manish but you were well assisted with the dense fog. In fact the mid innings power failure (match fixing with the groundsmen) to ensure weather conditions deteriorate is also being looked into by the organizers.
Luthra played well, but Dua would have given them a run for their money in case the visibility was more than 10 yards and had they not rested one of their lethal bowlers for this dead rubber contest.

We await some exciting cricket from both these teams.

#4: Should have complained while the match was going on!No point crying over spilt milk n btw guess ur lethal bowler was too scared of getting mauled by Tara.

#5: Tara will be shown all the 'taras' one by one in day light. The battle has just begun so don't count your eggs before they are hatched, we are sure Luthra warmed up well on a dark gloomy night.

#3: To correct your memory, Luthra defeated Dua in the 1st Turf Twenty-20 tournament played in 2008...in the broad day-light…..anyway, Luthra would love to have the easy cake-walk if asked to play another final against Dua …..and allowed to permit you to choose the time, day and grounds as per your convenience....all your misconceptions will go away if they still haven’t gone after last night's bashings......anyway, the real issue is - would you be able to reach the 'finals' with the kind of miserable performance put forth by your players last night....??

# 4: It was your choice to rest your lethal bowler (btw, for your information, he was out to town and not rested deliberately as being claimed here by you)......and bowling on a wet outfield and in a foggy atmosphere is more difficult for the bowling side than it is for the batting side….....mind it.....and get some cricketing sense before writing your useless comments here....if anything is still left after last night, I am sure that Luthra will definitely make you lay as well as hatch the eggs on the field itself in the next match, assuming you are good for that at least if not for playing cricket and accepting defeat....

# 4: if fog is an excuse, pls explain the score of 188 put up by Luthra....if absence of lethal bowler is an excuse, then you should keep in mind that Prashant Mishra, the most stylish and explosive batsmen of the law-firm cricket community, was not playing the match yesterday.....if dense fog is an excuse for Manish’s performance, then please note that he is only a medium pacer….and assuming your batsmen were facing difficult in sighting while facing his medium pace, then going by your logic, pace bowlers of Luthra who bowled initial overs should have got 10 wickets out of first 10 balls….while your batsmen were able to connect the ball and hit few boundaries in the middle overs and then this justification of dense fog does not survive…..

#6: I think your team was trying the same thing in the foggy evening yesterday (i.e., trying to show 'taras' to the superpower Tara, while he was hitting your bowlers left, right and centre and making them taras in the foggy night (read ‘disappear’))......advise you to concentrate on cricket rather than astronomy otherwise you will bashed again by any descent team.....

Please check your records and memory (or take some memory plus capsules), and you will find that out of the four tournaments played so far, luthra has won two and was the finalist and quater-finalist in the remaining two.....nothing against other cricket teams but with these records, it can not be said to be an overhyped and over-rated team.... Also, Tara has played only one tournament for Luthra and cricket is a team game Mr. Annonymous Guest at #13....

Guess Luthra was hammered by Suri in the finals of the 1st edition of SILF....and this Tara boy used to play for Suri...Now Tara is with Luthra....no points for guessing how much Luthra bank on Tara....Manish is a fluke...he is the most ordinary bowler of the tournament...bowls slow lollies and God Forbid if they face a good team....Manish will be Minced!

#15: Yes, Luthra was defeated by Suri in the final of 1st SILF tournament and Tara played an outstanding knock that time.......but despite that Luthra never take shelter under imaginative excuses or took assistance of outside players...and yes, luthra banks on its pool of talented players, hard practice, team spirit, discipline and fair play, guidance of its senior partners and support of its well-wishers....don't want to comment on your remarks against an individual who has consistently performed and proved himself...

#17: As regards, "assistance of outside players". Get your facts right. Mr. Bhasin had circulated an e-mail on October 22. Contents are reproduced below:

"Dear All,

Please send your certificates and list of players for 3rd Turf Inter Law Firms Cricket Tournament for SILF Cup as has been done by ________.

We will circulate such certificates and lists to all participating teams for any objections etc.

Needful may please be done by 25th. Objections if any may be sent by 27th October in respect of any teams.

No objections will be entertained after 30th October, 2010.

None of you had it in you to object then. Why make such "cheap" derogatory remarks now!!!!Agree with all the self praise you have used for your team. Never knew you are so good at blowing your own trumpet!
BTW..The "individual" who has consistently performed and proved himself is greatly respected and hope he wins the Man of the Tournament prize. All the Best :-)
