I have been following this thread, and I note that most peculiarly a lot of the comments here are partially redacted or not posted at all and tagged as “trollish”. In comparison, other threads on LI discussing law firms are not this heavily edited/moderated, even the seemingly negative comments there. As an example, the thread discussing Link Legal. Trying to understand the reason behind this.

Going by some of the responses here it’s fairly easy to understand that there have been firings at this firm (which could be for umpteen reasons outsiders are not aware of) and a lot of those individuals might be inclined to vent their frustration against the place here. However, people want an honest conversation about this firm and even those who want to vent, should be allowed their thoughts. Readers of LI are smart enough (I would like to believe) to understand the difference between a balanced answer and someone spewing unnecessary vitriol about the place. So my request to the Mod(s) is to allow all opinions as is, and let the readers takeaway what they want from that.

Worked with this firm. Cleared the assessment, was an associate. Please don't be naive in thinking this firm will shape you, or that you've been chosen for a coveted spot. ▮▮▮ You show 'deference' (their words) or you're cut. The salary ▮▮▮ it's a ceiling amount and not guaranteed. There is no notice period so be prepared with your cardboard box- ▮▮▮ If they do not like you, which is probable, you will be sidelined and not chosen for work. ▮▮▮ Cool clients, but ▮▮▮ They also have no HR in place so LI is where your grievances go. Good luck.

Depends on the people you end up working with this rule applies across every organisation. The partners at SRL are quite uninvolved though they have their own unique strengths like most do. ▮▮▮ and ▮▮▮ are difficult to work with. Egoistic, competitive and go out of their way to make your life miserable stay clear from them. If you’re lucky you can work with the SAs who are kind hearted and good at their work, seem uninterested in politics. The pay is as good as they say but you have to prove your mettle before they offer you high salaries that can take a long time.

As someone who did the assessment internship at SRL, competed with 10-15 other interns and worked his heart out to get the offer only to be part of a mass firing because the team wasn't profitable and wanted to save money - I definitely wouldn't call the internship the chance of a lifetime.

It breaks your confidence to be treated like that as a first-year lawyer, and I wish I had joined a Tier 2/3 firm at a lesser pay but with better stability and people.

Not from SRL and I’m absolutely sure they’re bluffing about their pay and whatnot. But the real bottom of the barrel people in this world are the ones judging the capability of lawyers based on which college they ended up in through the lottery of an exam called CLAT, and then based on their interest or disinterest in kissing ass and wasting time in college to get grades that don’t matter for shit.

I’m sure the bottom of the barrell folks you describe would wipe the floor with you.

1. The founder boasts about paying high salaries, but they fire people before the bonus is due. 2. Work from home policy depends on the mood of the partner unlike other firms which are professional and transparent about such things. 3. It's a small firm ▮▮▮. 4. Most freshers are not confirmed after probation ▮▮▮. Performance is determined based on the face time you get with the partner in internal discussions and not your hard work or skills. 5. Partner gives artificial urgent deadlines and doesn't review the work for weeks.

the pay is not as great as SRL wants you to believe. most of SRL's hype is just good PR, otherwise don't you think they'd be attracting better talent than random law school grads and bottom of the barrel students from NLUs?

the a0 pay does not include half the year in computing your bonus (since it's a probation period), and the a1 pay is the same band as your a0 pay, just this time you will actually receive a full year's bonus.

Can someone genuinely come clean about what is happening at Spice Route Legal? For some law students who love and are passionate about technology law - specialised firms such as these seem to be a terrific option to start our careers. Plus, the pay is great too. However, legallyindia seems to be bent on hating the firm. This is not a PR post - just a curious law student who loves everything tech law.

Can someone please clarify with good faith and reasonableness - should law students who love technology law consider this firm?
