In a shocking turn of events, MNLU Mumbai is under scrutiny as students have raised serious allegations against the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Dilip Ukey. The students claim that the Vice Chancellor terminated the employment of a Dalit driver, Mr. Udhav Kamble, for refusing to perform menial household tasks, including cleaning the Vice Chancellor's personal toilet. According to the letter sent by concerned students to various authorities, the incident took place when the Vice Chancellor visited his house in Pune. Mr. Kamble, who was assigned as the Vice Chancellor's driver, was allegedly summoned to the residence and asked to undertake cleaning duties beyond his job description. Upon refusing to clean the personal toilet, Mr. Kamble's employment was terminated without any stated reason. The students further assert that this is not an isolated incident, claiming that the Vice Chancellor has a history of making drivers and other multi-tasking staff perform household chores at both his Pune and Mumbai residences. Previous instances of terminating employees for refusing such tasks have been cited in the letter, raising concerns about exploitative practices. The letter contends that these actions not only violate the principles of equality and justice enshrined in the constitution but also amount to a form of modern slavery. The students argue that individuals are being coerced into performing tasks outside the scope of their employment, degrading their dignity and perpetuating discrimination based on caste. In addition to the termination of Mr. Kamble, the students allege mistreatment of a female multi-tasking staff member who was forced to work as the Vice Chancellor's domestic help. Despite raising complaints, her voice reportedly went unheard. The students have called for a thorough investigation into the matter and are urging the Chief Justice of India and other authorities to set up a neutral committee. They are also requesting the Vice Chancellor to go on leave during the investigation to prevent potential interference.

**The letter further touches upon ▮▮▮. The students demand financial transparency and accountability. The students express their commitment to bringing about social change, and the letter has been marked to various higher authorities, including Union and State Governments, leading members of academia, eminent lawyers, activists, students, and faculty members. The allegations have already prompted the students to reach out to the press, seeking wider attention and support for their cause.▮▮▮
Subsequently, the email IDs of the students were blocked from receiving email outside the institution. And the decision about such changes in email settings wasn't even communicated to students of the university. The students immediately protested to get this decision reversed. The condition is very sad in MNLU right now.
The Vice Chancellor has become a dictator and recently asked the registerar of the university to resign and replaced him with one of the most incompetent HODs ever. The situation is really hopeless now.
can confirm. this college is going down, the new reg is just a pawn
No action has been taken yet on the same, their isn't any reply from the VC to the students nor any independent investigation started on the same.
I feel the Registrar was removed and replaced by the inefficient HoD from Pune as Registrar so as to he can cover up the entire mess. The new registrar is pathetic and will be a mere puppet of the VC. All allegations are true. #UkeyGoBack
This step is the reflection of VCs cowardice that he had to do all this after we were done with our examinations so he has to face no repercussions.
I think it's better to wait and see what they have to clarify about their registrar. I am sure he was a powerful person too and no one can make a registrar quit randomly. It's also important to look at that aspect
