As for faculty profiles, I am aware of all the people who teach at both the places. The profiles in terms of publication are actually better at NUJS recently, while teaching ability cannot be judged by outsiders. With Mrinal, Aparna, Chinmayi and Arul all gone, NLUD no longer retains that advantage. I am not saying NLUD is not ahead in any metric. They have got more money, better infra and huge location advantages. But grad outcome-wise, or faculty-wise they are not better at present. Not that I care much, I personally feel that every NLU should only try to make itself better than its own self, since these rankings are meaningless. Every lawyer worth their salt knows that.

That's why there was a year when a T1 firm called your grads to go to their office for an interview and then rejected everyone. NLUD placement reports are a great example of 'overhyped placement reports'. The document that they submitted to NIRF is a testament of their barefaced lies. Look at the median salary that they have stated, no firm in India pays that to freshers, and I am certain that half of their placements were not done through TCs. Which T1 firm will allow you to intern only after 4? Pull the other one on pal, that's got bells on. If you claim to have seen students getting debarred, I too have known students who got away, so all that goes to show is the NLUD has double standards. At NUJS, there's no blanket internship exemption for attendance. Only 4th years before day zero get a 15 day period, that's all.
Your information is inaccurate. You've just heard things from a few of your friends and are extrapolating whereas I've actually studied there. No one gets an exemption pass with less than 75% attendance unless they specifically have exemptions for moots/ADR/debates. People that bunk classes and have low attendance have to take the repeat exams and pay fines, and these are usually 5-10 people every batch, not as high as at NUJS.
There is no concept of giving attendance for during internships during class hours. No serious student does that and being in Delhi, it is logistically possible to go after class for interning at courts/firms. This is not possible in Kolkata and I know from my sources that NUJS people stay in Mumbai/Delhi and finish internships while missing classes.

Completely untrue. I know NLUD students (my own friends) who have missed on plenty of classes doing internships and moots and then were allowed to sit for exams.
A majority of them do. Attendance requirement is 75% and acad leaves can't be obtained without a just cause. And there isn't some way to scam through them using some student body contacts. Unlike at NUJS, people don't skip classes/exams to do internships for increasing their corporate PPO chances.

What do you know about NUJS if you're not from there? Your completely wrong claim about the placements itself is enough to discredit your views. NUJS has consistently been having the best placement among all law schools for the last 6-7 years now. As for faculty, other than NLSIU, no other NLU has objectively 'better' faculty. Infra-wise they are indeed behind, but there's everything that one needs to study law, which is obvious from the fact that graduate performance and outcome remains the same as other NLUs despite such infra.

Forget about the legacy batch. Just compare from 2013 onwards. What have the NLUD grads done that NUJS grads didn't? Got more or better jobs? Got more scholarships? You should wait a few years before judging that. The top NUJS graduates today finished their law school before NLUD was even set up and NUJS still benefits from its alumni legacy. I don’t think there is an inherent superiority with regard to either institution’s graduates but that’s the case for all the top 7 NLUs till GNLU/NLIU. But with administrative mismanagement at NUJS, I think NLUD is still a safer bet at the moment.
Be that as it may, it’s still easier to get into NUJS with a lower CLAT rank than NLUD’s AILET if one can afford the NRI quota route. OP doesn’t seem to have done his homework on this.
This is your future we are talking about so tread very carefully. I would suggest you pay the fees of NUJS, give advanced and then take a decision. After your adv scores and stream selection, it would be easier to decide. If you do not get a preferable engineering college or stream, go to NUJS.

As someone has pointed out, OP is likely a Bengali and thus chose NUJS over NLUD. The more relevant question is whether to choose CS over NUJS. You people should answer that instead of fighting over NIRF rankings.
My view is that CS is much better as it opens doors to go abroad. If you still want to do law after CS you can always do a 3 year course at NLSIU/Jindal/DU/IIT KGP. You can specialise it IT law and also appear for the patent agent exam.

There is no grad outcome other than UPSC where NLUD students have performed better than NUJS students, which goes to show clearly that the standard of anything isn't any different between these two places.

But on every other serious note, this is a lazy generalisation and NLUD is easily the better choice. He’s chosen a place with domicile quota, a falling ranking and poor state funding plus poor infrastructure facilities over an overall better law school. My guess is that he’s from Kolkata or WB so he wants to stay near home or/and he doesn’t care much for law beyond the corporate pay packages he reads about in magazines.

1. Law- Share markets and trading/investing. If I go into law, will probably end up going into general corporate or capital markets. Maybe might give UPSC at a later stage if I feel the law firm burnout.
2. Engineering- Programming and coding. Insert typical cs nerd info (know three programming languages etc etc)... Would be going into MNCs like MAANG companies if I do CS.
It's not as if I'm not interested in Law, honestly, science is far more challenging and tiring compared to law. Plus am really interested in shares/investing and cap marks and stuff.
Regarding what I want to do- my primary motivation is earning a ton of money, and short of opening a business, careers in corporate law at foreign law firms and working in CS fields in multinationals pay really well. Choosing between the two is hard 😂

I get the feeling that if you choose NUJS over a good NIT, you'll regret your decision during the dreadful phases of your career. I can't really say the same for engineering; it doesn't really shut off any major future prospects apart from being a lawyer.
Ordinarily, I would choose a CS in NIT over any NLU, and would advise you to do the same. But there are some niche advantages an NLU may give you:
1. You must be good in maths and you may thus want to give GMAT. If you want to do an MBA in the US after your CS, the US B-schools are limiting Indian CS grad intake because that is the most common profile. They want diversity, so Indian non-CS grads have an edge. So an NLU grad may have a slightly better chance of getting into Harvard B School than a CS grad, because of this quote system. Same for ISB.
2. You can also specialise in maths-centric and science-centric law courses that LLB students avoid, such as tax and tech law.
Remember also that passing LLB is easier than CS, especially for a bright guy like you. So you can prepare for GMAT on the side.

Not too sure about how I'll do in JEE Adv, and can't wait for it cause Advanced is in June and NUJS is asking for full 1st sem fees by May 20th.
