We want LI to be one of the friendliest places on the internet, where lawyers and law students help each other with their career related queries and occasionally discuss other stuff that might affect their lives too. In other words:
1. Be kind, respectful and helpful to each other.
2. Be bona fide, truthful, genuine and curious.
3. Assume the best intention of others.
Therefore, in using the site, you must agree to do your best to uphold these community guidelines.
Note that what you find here is written and moderated by anonymous people on the internet.

Don't listen to these fools here. What I would suggest is prepare an outline of what you want to present. Especially with how it's relevant and falls within the ambit of IL. Then approach your professor.
The problem with most IL or HR professors is that they're not an expert on it and have just been given the subject because the university couldn't find a suitable expert. Moreover these are old geezers who are apprehensive about touching new topics since they will have to take the extra burden of being up-to-date with the topic and that is something their lazy bums will not want to do.
I've seen plenty of time where these professors would not touch anything related to digital areas, data, ai etc cause it's new for them as well. But it's your job to convince them that you know what you're doing. Ask for guidance in research not on topic. Simple as that.
I have seen many threads and comments here making such statements based on NIRF rankings. Does anyone know how terrible the placements were for the 2024 batch for NLUD? Compare it to NALSAR? NLUD does not have even decent hostels. Except locational advantage, it simply cannot be compared to NLS and NALSAR that have exceptionally well-connected Alumni network.
I have got NLUD and now I will have to pay 50k as Admission Confirmation. Can someone tell me from NLUD is this refundable, partially refundable or non-refundable?
Thanks (v. Urgent).
I will be starting my law school journey next year from June and currently have been allotted rgnul in 1st list .
I have 6 months time in my hand and I am 12th passed out so as you all are technically my seniors I would like to know how can I utilise my time in such a manner that will help me in my law school and would keep me ahead of my peers. Or what you would have done in this time frame that you couldn't and regret now and what you did which helped you a lot in your law school journey
Thank you βΊοΈ
Now I wrote more emails after SC order, no response now
Can some one tell please ?
MBA by and large adds no synergy to your law degree. So the combination itself, atleast in India (and even abroad afaik) is not more than the sum of its individual parts. Its pretty much the same as engineering + MBA, as both of those degrees are unrelated. The best job after an MBA that you can get (only available to the best students of IIMA and possibly one or two other colleges) is Investment Banking, which has worse hours than law (with higher pay)
That being said, MBA + law is good if you as an individual are able to reap the benefits of what you've learned in both these areas. This is best when you've worked in corporate law or in-house of a bank for atleast 2-3 years and then gone for an MBA.
People on LI who keep simping for MBAs have no clue about the real world. MBA is not a panacea for unemployment or an escape from bad work culture and hours. Many MBA grads not from the absolute top colleges are also suffering due to recession and jobless growth. There is not an endless , inelastic demand for MBAs in the world like fools on LI would have you believe. Additionally, the post MBA work life is also very toxic and has ungodly hours, but then again you will adjust like you do for a law firm. The difference comes down to the aptitude of the person and their likes and dislikes when it comes to an occupation.
Just leaving this here...
Got a interview for Thinklaw advocates coming soon.
Any idea about the salary? Should I go for it being from a tier 1 NLU.
However, money-wise and working hours - not that different from law firms.
- IIM A/B/C or ISB
- IIM K/L/I or SP Jain or FMS Delhi or top IITs
- Lower tier IIMs or Lower tier IITs or places like FORE, MICA etc.
- Various private colleges or non-MBA management courses
The only reason why not many lawyers don't go for MBAs is that they are weak in maths and their GMAT/CAT score suffers. But these days B Schools are looking to diversify intake, especially for girls, and they can relax a bit. Also, a good exam coach can help you a lot.
Education loans registered a record y-o-y growth of 20.6% for April - October 2023, compared to the same period in 2022. (Source: RBI)

Do state NLUs with their high fees and private universities (BITS Law, JGLS) with their exorbitant fees fuel this?
Do education loans impact career choices given that there's a sword hanging over students' heads?
Those who take education loans, are they also more likely to take other loans later in life - housing, car, personal etc.? Like a loan fetish.
Saadaat Law Associates stands out as an exceptionally professional legal firm with extensive proficiency across diverse legal domains. Their commendable expertise spans various legal matters, including corporate law, real estate transactions, and personal injury cases. Continuously providing superior legal services, Saadaat Law Associates is a preferred choice for those seeking trustworthy legal representation.
Look at yesteryear firms like JSA that didn't keep up with pay hikes. Their folks are leaving in droves and they're hiring en masse from tier 2/3 firms at a low pay scale.
There's plenty of work in the market. Our laws are more complicated than ever, investment interest in India remains high and there's simply no dearth of work for firms.
I think itβs concerning because it shows that people from a certain city/college/community will push people from there. Hence, lots of Stephanians, DU CLC people, Delhiites generally and people from certain parts of India, especially North and West. Conversely, negligible NLU alumni presence in High Courts and zero presence in the SC, low representation of people from South/East/NE etc. Plus very few women.
Thoughts??
What is the likelihood of being hired afterward?
Hate to put it harshly but in all probability, your actual feedback was simply not as good as you thought it was. It's time to let go of the "I aced it" assumption and learn to actually identify your mistakes and get better.
TIA
What are some of the practice areas where you donβt require to present at all or only on some rare occasions? I just donβt like the extra work of memorising the stuff I had worked on and conveying it and would just be happy if itβs mostly a desk related job only.
Thanks

They must give equal number to all NLUs put together.
You will regret for 5 years and even thereafter.
What to expect from an interview with him?
But getting ppo is challenging they are very selective
90% litigators dont cross 1L Per month barring exceptions
So why are we suffering for jobs?
Also no bullshit reason hired more from batch of 2023, HR and firms have their policies intact( passed out of good management colleges)
What should be the future course of action- to get whatever and where-ever you are getiing an assesment internship or what else?
Graduating this june!!!!!
Nobody deserves to endure what you've been through and hope something truly works out for you, Godspeed.
I donβt have the condition but Iβve heard about you. Wishing you strength and happiness. Hope it gets better over time.
