We want LI to be one of the friendliest places on the internet, where lawyers and law students help each other with their career related queries and occasionally discuss other stuff that might affect their lives too. In other words:
1. Be kind, respectful and helpful to each other.
2. Be bona fide, truthful, genuine and curious.
3. Assume the best intention of others.

I am a 3rd year student at a T1 NLU. I have secured an internship from Panag & Babu, and have been reading a bit about WCC for the same. I quite like the concepts in WCC (since it is a mix of both corp and lit) and am interested in seeking the general opinion on how to go about interning and subsequently a career in said field.
My main issues are as follows-
A. Who are the big names- both corp and lit? Additionally, what sort of a place in P&B and should I aim to get a callback?
B. What are the general prospects in the field down the line- career progression and relevance of the field?
C. What is the general compensation range?
Thank you!
There’s a dangerous glorification of overwork sweeping through law firms and chambers—one that rewards those who sacrifice their health, sleep, and social life just to be seen as "dedicated." The expectation to be available 24/7 has become the silent standard, and those who dare to set boundaries are made to feel dispensable or "not cut out" for the job.
We are normalizing a culture where the "ideal worker" is someone who pulls all-nighters, shows up first, leaves last, and still answers emails at midnight. This isn't excellence, it's exploitation.
People are falling sick, mentally and physically, from this relentless grind. Yet the silence persists. Why? Because we’ve mistaken suffering for success.
It’s high time we demand a change. Even factory workers and corporate employees have regulated working hours. Why does the legal profession tolerate what is fast becoming glorified unpaid labour?
We must set boundaries. We must restore dignity.
Productivity should never come at the cost of a person’s wellbeing. The legal profession must lead by example, not lag behind in humanity.

Next question is whether the reservation ceiling for the OBC/SC/ST category will be hiked to 70%, as demanded by some.
How's the remake? Do you get enough time to play?
Now I'm planning on looking for something else but not sure if employment is a viable practice area in the long run (although I'm quite familiar with it now) as the work here is quite on and off and not a lot of firms, other than Tier 1, have specialized teams for this.
I know in Gen Corp there will always be work, but since I have don't have any prior experience, not sure if firms will consider me. How do I go about this?
Any advise is appreciated!!
What about the fact that many top international firms have TMT divisions? What about the fact that books on telecom and media law have been written in the US over many decades? What about the fact that many leading law schools worldwide offer LLMs both explicitly in TMT law (“LLM in TMT Law”: as f***ing obvious as that) or implicitly in TMT law (specialist IT and IP LLMs)?
Just because India is a technological laggard with a human development index comparable to the poorest African countries, and just because Indian law firms are medieval Lala shops with limited practice areas, does not mean that you can regurgitate disinformation out of your ass.
One of the recent console games i played was Plague's Tale: Innocence.
An institution which employs lawyers and never provide equity, is antithetical to the idea of entrepreneurship in lawyers. Unless your idea of entrepreneurship is building someone else’s business.
NDA is a brand - where? In whose mind and in which universe? If there was a legal limit on being delusional, you would be guilty of violating it.
If you want money then work somewhere else? Like WTF? If I want to be an academician, wouldn’t I just join academia. What kind of chamber lawyer exploitation mentality is this? Is it not plain market economics to be paid for your labour?
Oh my god I can write for hours but I need to go make some money.
Finished Uncharted 4 on PC
Paper Mario: Origami King on Nintendo Switch
God of War: Ghost of Sparta on PSP
Persona 4 on PS Vita
Super Mario on Nintendo DS
All of these continue in parallel. Given work commitments, it took me 2 and half years to finish Uncharted 4. It is a 25 hour game. :/

Any suggestions/advice/guidance welcome. Thankyou!
Who are the lawyers and law firms that have advised IndusInd Bank?
What’s the point of such token resignations?
Saraf, KCO are on a freeze
1. Challenges / opportunities at an in-house role?
2. Any significant disadvantage coming from a purely disputes role while applying for an in-house role?
3. Variation in payscale, percentage wise approximately.
4. Any leads for in-house roles for a disputes profile?
Thanks!
NLS Strike team won the Trilaterals trophy!
They were able to defeat TWO teams!
1. As a student: Best graduating student at NLSIU. Definitely one of the best students at Oxford, too, because only people who have achieved distinction in BCL are permitted to go to the DPhil. Please provide verifiable proof of your NLSIU and Oxford degrees, then dare to ask such questions. Otherwise, sit this one out.
2. Qualifications: NLSIU + two degrees at Oxford. Do you have either of these or anything even close?
3. Accomplishments: Rhodes Scholar. One of the biggest achievements in life that one can have. What do you have that is even close?
4. Publications: Books published by both Oxford and Cambridge University Press. Considering the quality of legal research in India, that is quite heavy for an Indian legal academic. Show me your publication list.
5. Experience: Has taught at two of the best law universities in India (NLSIU and NUJS), while also having taught at Oxford and Columbia. What have you done in life other than being a grifter?
6. As a university administrator: Doesn't tolerate nonsense, doesn't suffer fools gladly either (good thing, too, far too many fools in Indian higher education). Ensuring NLSIU operates like the best unis in the world, and that one day, it will be a hub for genuine research and intellectual work in law, like the actual Harvard, instead of just shooting his mouth off about it.
7. As a mentor: Other than his own writings, Sudhir has been publicly thanked by scholars in their own names whom he has advised on their academic projects. Tarunabh Khaitan (yes, the same T Khaitan, now of LSE) wrote an acknowledgement to him in a book chapter a few years ago. Provide verifiable proof of all the scholars who have acknowledged you in their writings.
Sharing your current offer letter can be an issue if (a) you have misrepresented key facts - like your position or what you make. (b) you don't work at the place you are claiming to work at. If you don't have an offer letter - you can ask your HR to issue it saying that you want it for your records.
Irrespective of whether you're litigating or in corp, if you can, get an iPad, preferably the larger sized one, with an Apple pencil. There is a one time purchase plan of LiquidText, which you may consider getting. Also, if finances permit, get Adobe or any PDF software. I purchased Acrobat Pro for the Mac which is about 19K a year, but to offset expenses, I split it with a friend. Also, I use OneDrive to maintain my files and drafts, which allows me use of Outlook and Teams. You can either get that or use Google Drive or whatever works for you.
I also purchased an email address with my name, but that's completely optional. Get business cards printed and always keep a few on you. Over time, if you're flying solo, get files printed with your name, office address, etc. Subscribe to any App like Provakil, Libra, etc., to track your cases.
Whenever you work on a matter, buy the Act/bare text relevant to it. Over time you'll build up your own library of Acts at least. Commentaries or books you can buy depending on requirement and financial capacity.
Yet no one willing to hire citing "no fresher hiring" across tier 1 - delhi. What is one supposed to do,all this hardwork for a policy you cant control???
