Yet no one willing to hire citing "no fresher hiring" across tier 1 - delhi. What is one supposed to do,all this hardwork for a policy you cant control???
What about the fact that many top international firms have TMT divisions? What about the fact that books on telecom and media law have been written in the US over many decades? What about the fact that many leading law schools worldwide offer LLMs both explicitly in TMT law (“LLM in TMT Law”: as f***ing obvious as that) or implicitly in TMT law (specialist IT and IP LLMs)?
Just because India is a technological laggard with a human development index comparable to the poorest African countries, and just because Indian law firms are medieval Lala shops with limited practice areas, does not mean that you can regurgitate disinformation out of your ass.
Ended up in the US years later and realized privacy, data protection, cybersecurity, AI, crypto, cloud etc. have really good employment prospects if you have the domain knowledge, both in law firms and companies. General corporate is the practice many find themselves stuck in because they had no other interests to specialize in.
My 2 cents: if you’re passionate about TMT and can bear not to start at 15 LPA, take 1-2 years to work at places which will help you lateral into TMT. Or, work in general corporate at a firm and then lateral into a TMT team. Either way, no harm reaching out to TMT associates and partners so they know you are interested and looking for an opportunity.
I’m not working in TMT, I’m still in a corporate practice. It’s hard to transition quickly.
