How should a law student approach T1 and T2 firms for trainee associate position while being in last year or last semester of college?
1. start absorbing information about various fields of law from any and all sources you come across.

2.Reach out to people over linkedin, and send well drafted messages which are professional and brief along with the connection request. Also, reach out to people you know so that they can refer you for an internship. (I personally believe start working from the ground up, meaning, don't just jump to Tier 1s cause you won't understand shit. Work with boutique firms and for more than 1 month at least, and if you have attendance issue then try working an arrangement of going after college for whatever the time period is, but don't forget to enjoy college as well).

3. Start reading from bare acts and wherever you can't understand the interpretation of any section or article, then use sources on google like blog.ipleaders etc. to understand the concept and its interpretation.

4. Start reading up on famous cases so as to develop the lingo and get used to it.

At last, just do everything step by step and take your time, cause you have a lot of it.
