However, it can take a bit of legwork and networking to change practice areas: you need to be able to tell a good story of why and also show why it would be valuable to the firm. And try to be positive, rather than just saying "I hate where I work right now", talk about 'passion' and demonstrate that you've done some research into the area you want to join.

People have been reporting this comment asking to unpublish it. Question is: no one has disputed the accuracy of the comment or given any reason other than that it shows the university in a bad light, so those are not sufficient reasons to unpublish a comment. Please clarify if we have misunderstood the situation.

You know you are playing into their hands by giving them exactly what they want for them and their cause: more publicity.

These campaigns are probably getting publicity in press coverage and outrage and debate worth the equivalent in billions of dollars of ad-spend and that would be impossible to achieve even when spending billions of dollars on PR.

Isn't the point that academia while claiming to be representative or researching discrimination and the like, both for women and for non-savarna castes, that it is still quite a bubble where the majority in senior positions are privileged and male? One Ambedkar does not change the reality on the ground nowadays.

That was responding to the subtext that the OP was making. But the reality is if this had happened in UP, for example, the students may have been lynched or beaten up by cops already purely on the allegation that it was a religiously-motivated attack by Muslims.

Also, is it actually established they were "Islamists" or this had anything to do with Islam? The Hindu reports:

It was explained and you chose to ignore it: the comment was trollish because the headline made a very specific false claim which was not supported by any of the reports, trying to bring in hate speech by the back door.

Maybe others are pulling back? Most likely a temporary technical issue though, or AVG servers being overloaded - blocking of VPNs by government seems unlikely, considering they already have a law in place against VPN companies.

I.e. you are surprised that as Uber has continued squeezing 'driver partner' margins (or doing a bait-and-switch to increase their profits), as driver's cost of fuel and other expenses have increased, that it's increasingly not lucrative for those with an education and any other job opportunities to drive Ubers, and those that do drive Ubers have to do so for long hours with access to sufficient sanitation or other facilities?

That's got nothing to do with being woke, that's just basic business dynamics...

Work aside, one positive thing about it is surely that you get to learn quite a bit about the various businesses involved, how the stock markets work, and get to interact with some fairly senior people in the companies, which is great for building client relationships?

No one has said the system is flawless and can't be criticised and you have made some good points, but half the criticism of it seems to boil down to: there is no such thing as caste discrimination anymore in India and everyone who gets in under reservations is rich. And even if that is the case, is that not part of the aim of reservations, to make several people slightly better off over generations, on average, to begin to remove stigmas and stereotypes and economic disadvantages from being associated with the groups?

However, you could also argue that it's a lottery and doesn't do enough on that front and fast enough and othe programmes would be more effective (unless your argument is, screw it, let's not do anything to uplift SC and STs.

The argument I still haven't heard is why it is not possible to have means-tested reservations also, based purely on income? Do people just cheat too much on their tax returns for this to be feasible?
