Moral of the story: the more regulations and state control you put, the weaker a university gets. Excellent advertisement for low government regulation, free markets and meritocracy.
This is more likely to be true for older IIMs and not the newer ones. Take the case of Dheeraj Sharma, for instance.
Because:

- IIMs are central universities

- Have alumni and top industry people on their governing bodies

- Don’t have dehaats as VCs and faculty

- Have a culture of prioritising meritocracy and academic elitism over welfarism and identitarianism
No institutional autonomy, INI status, funds, leadership. You don't hamstring a participant and then demand accountability about its performance in the race.
