Really depends on what you're looking for and what your financial conditions are like. An LLM makes your case stronger for being hired by foreign law firms rather than if you did not do one at all. But bear in mind you'll still be facing a massive uphill battle in breaking in to a top US or other international firm, you'll just be slightly better placed. On the positive side, just the fact that you interact with people from all over the world on a day-day basis and get to learn from faculty who are miles ahead of their Indian counterparts does upskill you massively. We're in a profession where being able to interact with and hold a genuine conversation with people from around the world is a key differentiating factor as you go up the ladder (in terms of BD). An LLM from a top university helps massively. I'm not saying you can't develop those skills or similar contacts otherwise, just that an LLM makes it much easier. With that being said, there is a huge cost associated with the LLM - both financially and in terms of opportunity cost (though the opportunity cost pales in comparison to the benefits discussed). The financial component is however very significant and I'd say by and large dispositive.

An LLM will be useful if you want to do legal policy, research or academia in the US. For those purposes actually contrary to the doom and gloom here it is useful (of course visa issues are whole other thing). But if you want to do law, like corporate or litigation you are better of doing expedied J.D

Do an LLM , and subsequently a PhD ONLY if you want to be a professor or researcher !

A basic LLB is more than enough to practice anywhere. Instead work on increasing your work experience. If you need to move forward, maybe a MBA will help. But DO NOT DO AN LLM !
