From what I've heard across other industries, job-hopping tends to be correlated with higher incomes as companies tend to offer more competitive rates to someone joining the company externally, rather than talent that is being promoted within the company.
However, I've heard law firms tend to pay more standardised rates based on your seniority/practice area (excl. bonus). I was wondering if this was correct, additionally if so, is switching across firms (in similar tiers) for purely a higher salary something that happens in corporate law firms or are switches more because of things like team/culture/city etc?
