Apparently the following were in the race, AKP, Sullu, Rathin B (NBU Law), ID (NLU Meg), Vij (MNLU Nag) among others.
But what about the financial chicanery, shady faculty recruitments etc? PIB inquiries got waylaid by NKC earlier and now this too gets hushed up in exchange for shoving out NKC? And what about his acolytes including the Four Horsemen who will now buzz around Nandi?
This guy literally created a separate course/dept to accomodate Apa and acolytes. He had a dodgy admin audit done so that he trade in admin recruitment and promotions. Started courses without transparent analyses of costs and future prospects of the students currently in MSc Forensics, the new LLB etc.
Basically extended the degree mill lineage that started with PIB. No surprise NKC went easy on PIB for showing the way.
Ofc they all stray and but it will be for other SJA in successive years to keep up the pressure
To be continued.. .. ?
It is possible that some acolytes may join NKC should things get hot for them here.
Thoughts?
I feel sorry for NUJS. Once had the most respected and scholarly people in the country as VCs (Madhava Menon, BS Chimni, MP Singh). In those days, it was deemed as a strong rival to NLSIU and was considered better than NALSAR. After that, it's been a continuous slide downhill and the absolute dregs of the world have been running the institute. The decline of the Governing Body is also pathetic: once A-list Supreme Court counsels were on the lost, now it's just an extension of the Trinamool Congress party office.
OVN is better than the current guy in one way: he can speak decently, without embarrassing the institute. But beyond that I don't see much improvement.
My prediction: OVN as VC will rehabilitate all the TLC NLSIU profs who have been forced to move out: Elizabeth, Ramakrishna etc etc. NUJS will be their post-retirement space. Politically, he will kowtow to whoever is in power. Right now, he will be with the TMC. If the BJP wins the 2026 assembly elections, he will side with them.

The colour that matters is mint. Got the hint?
A new clique of ▮▮▮, ▮▮▮, ▮▮▮, ▮▮▮ will jostle and at times collaborate with the Four Horsemen. ▮▮▮ will play the swing role
Let's see how things roll for NKC. Must be getting a cushy sinecure from the state govt or its allies in the pvt sector. SNU, Techno? Have a feeling it will be some Forensic thing under state
Yes OVN must be given time. But are we obligated not to be vigilant and then suddenly get instigated into fallow action? Like this time and then self congratulate for evicting NKC out when the reality is that we have him and off ramp without any lasting consequences.
Also the transfers effected today drew substantial but quiet cheer from faculty, admin and student communities. Whether the rinse will actually clean up the Root and Stem is yet to be seen. Hopefully it wasn't an eyewash.

and spill the beans on transfer, dont take names of the persons transferred and the mods would let it pass
OVN will sit tight for the next 6-12 months. If you have serious dirt on him (since he signed off on all VR shenanigans) then kindly post.
By the time AG, SKC and Forensic fellow were brought into the EC, NKC was already on his way out, technically. Don't understand what happened.

NUJS is a ▮▮▮ for discarded people, it seems 😔. #▮▮▮
If you agree, I think just one further point needs to be added. That point isn't just applicable to NUJS, it is applicable to Bengal more generally.
Maybe check in with the brotherhood. Do you really think they are interested to remove the CM or her Chosen? Unless the brotherhood agrees the so called Nationalistic Chowkidars can only do headline management.
So please take your tired attempts and vacuous politics elsewhere.
Credit to Messiah for clean up and subsequent fund raise. Dropping like manna from heaven. Not a surprise there. But it is our human nature, our fault that we forgot the original sins of the charlatans who now leads whitewashed lives in positions of authority elsewhere. Some continue and hopelessly hope that Messiah will eventually ascend elsewhere too.
Dream on. Not anytime soon.
Now what, a hollow chest thumping farce by SJA while the wheel turns to churn the same spiel in due course of time?
NUJS gets established by NRM and despite 25 yrs of existence it still doesn't have the bench strength nor does the state. When a "son of the soil" was installed, he deepened the rot.
Again the Horsemen will take over just as they did during PIB reign.
Interesting that Sarasu who had replaced OVN went to Manipal but did not even apply for NUJS or other NLUs.
But now a new cabal will emerge and how they play with Four Horsemen to game OVN will be the thing to watch. OVN is no pushover and far smarter than the combine which will buzz around him. In near future he will bring in his Hands.
And if things go really bad for OVN here, there is IIULER Amravati or Goa
OVN was later placed on the Ness Wadia Chair something that even NLS had forgotten about. Maybe some initial batches knew abt it because it had an endowment kitty of less than 30 lacs and that came in when either NRM or NLM were heading the law school.
I have a reason to ask. I was interviewed for an Asst. Prof. post and I met one of my old friends (who's now at NUJS) when I visited for physical interview. They said "why did you waste money to come here, the post was already promised under the table for one of NKC's stooges, who's been around here for a while doing everything to please NKC". My 7-Panel interview went extremely well, yet the person who my friend named, was selected. Also informal yet very trust-worthy another friend's source, that I was ranked next to this selected person in the merit list.
If the resigned is one among those you named, I can think of writing an email to consider me for the position! It'll be helpful! Whether my request is considered or not. Whether my email makes sense or not, I worked hard for this post, and I believe I deserve a chance at this!
Your best chance is to first acquire the requisite paperwork which shows the wrongdoing, if any. NKC is good with paperwork and likely that he scored his candidate better on subjective side.
If you do get the paperwork (because NUJS often misplaces inconvenient stuff) then lodge a formal complaints separately with the UGC; the Chancellor (CJI), the Law Dept of WB and its Minister. Send copies to VC and Registrar of NUJS. Use a proper courier so that you get the tracking evidence rt. Also email.
At NUJS, inconvenient things are often not brought before the EC and the EC also tacitly allows the VC to paper over such wrinkles.
Rt now and inquiry has been directed concerning the recruitment of a forensic science faculty member. Papers are being actively removed and shredded.
Good luck.
KS complained to the EC that SKS was given a full 5 yr tenure in the EC because NKC was her doctoral supervisor. NKC responded that he merely followed the precedent set by Talukdar who had given AKP, LDG and AG limited tenures. Both LDG and AG lost their EC positions soon after NKC took over because they had become Associate Ps then. But the real reason was that the trio were considered inconvenient by NKC and he wanted to pack in his acolytes, which he eventually did till things soured up with VP.
Does KS, LDG, TRC, AG et all know about this?
Why are ▮▮▮, ▮▮▮ keeping quiet abt the cases that ▮▮▮ ?
And what about substance abuse and SH on campus that NKC ▮▮▮ ▮▮▮ because it concerned connected parents of alleged perps?
There is also some litigation going on in Cal HC involving NKC and JG. But it was never reported or discussed in the EC. How is the SJA allowing NKC an honourable exit?
Is this part of some deal with the so called instigating teachers?
So, let's have an inquiry on the allegations against NKC and till then his dues, terminal benefits etc should be held up. Also this inquiry must be completed within a certain amount of time. Do you have any suggestions on who should conduct the inquiry?
So let's just have the inquiry done. SJA must demand and insist on it.
Btw, an old PIB proposal is getting revived in the name of transparency. Biometric attendance of faculty, staff and students. Expect a 6 cr contract to some sweethearts via WEBEL.
the curse of automatic promotion should stop
Any further hints are welcome.
you must be in the cartel which the person above mentioned, rarely seen on campus but getting a fat paycheck at the end of the month, materials not updated since pandemic, with published research so poor that even the NUJS regulatory journal will not publish but will count for API
But why single out the head of the cartel. There are many others as well including a Prof who got reported to the EC by NKC but later given an off ramp. Another AssP who protests too much. Got reported for truancy etc to the EC which ordered that increments, promotions etc be held up. So the self claimed anti-Empire protestor hit back by flunking or scaring a good chunk of students.
So don't let the beemer be a distraction. ▮▮▮ and gang shouldn't croon given their truancy.
Ofc it was all for courtesies, respect and the spiel.
Disagree, hate etc the CM. But she knows Bengal. So does her party. Green will win again. That doesn't mean that Bengal progresses. But a saffron win also doesn't automatically mean Bengal lunges ahead.
Cannot believe that SJA is letting NKC slip away just like that. Sends a very wrong signal to his successors and the Root and Stem
EC agreed to bring in new rules concerning faculty discipline. It is in this that the old PIB proposal on biometric attendance got dovetailed with BCI directive on attendance
So the teachers upset with biometric scrutiny, riled up the students on other issues as well as how attendance tightening could have negative implications for students too.
While the students rightly went after PIB for dodgy CCTV deals etc, the biometric thing got waylaid. Teachers got their work done and students realised much later that shots were fired from their shoulders.
Same thing this time as well although I fully support the eviction of NKC. But the root and stem survive. Wonder what students will do about that.
If others have further details, please post. Somehow the VC selection smells funny. As if the powers that be knew who they wanted here.
Now for NLUs. Many NLU VCs ran their corrupt regimes during saffron years in MP, Chattisgarh etc. Many continued to do even after the saffron took over. The same shit applies for other parties as well
Stop peddling cheap political tea leaves. It was never swadesi. Let's drink lactose free milk and not get distracted by A1 and A2 milk. That's another scam
Saffron in Bengal lacks grassroot reach, organisation and tenacity. Most importantly Nagpur daddy doesn't want it to win yet and has far more faith on its green protege.
So we need to give up the delusion of NUJS falling under a BJP regime. OVN will bow to the TMC, just like Bhat, Talukdar and NKC did. Even if the 1% chance of the BJP winning comes true, you will see the corrupt TMC elements at NUJS switch over to the BJP. So NUJS will be stuck with the same people.
Expect a big reshuffle in the NUJS governing bodies anytime between May and September next year -- regardless of whether the TMC wins or not.
AM, SAK, RG, VP have been EC veterans. PIB wanted them in for obvious reasons.
▮▮▮ is definitely making a comeback because her complaint against NKC got a degree of recognition from EC. So who are going to fill the three slots?
But the point is that students should get a seat inside. Then again despite the eventual NKC exit the shenanigans of the SJA doesn't inspire confidence.
I have to say, I liked his interview to the Times of India, because he acknowledges the risk that NUJS may be deteriorating into a third-rate college.
From a purely pragmatic perspective, I am hoping that the BJP wins Bengal, so that central government funds can come to NUJS.
https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/city/kolkata/nujs-at-a-crossroads-will-restore-intellectual-infra-says-new-vc/amp_articleshow/125038907.cms
besides, there are many NLUs where the state government is BJP - have they got any central funds?
BJP coming in to bengal will only by another disaster for bengal.
Btw do you think the rumble in Bihar will affect the dynamics in the EC at NUJS. Apparently OVN has publicly stated he prefers minimal EC involvement in univ affairs. So will it be divide and conquer by the OVN and King tag team?
Also don't forget JHK loss earlier.
OVN knows this well. Apart from shunting Gatekeeper and letting a certain King play with the ball for now, OVN will bide his time. If better opportunity comes along esp from South, he will scram
Even if many GC/EC members switch loyalties, at least the TMC MLAs and ministers, the AG and the pro-TMC retired judge will be out of the NUJS if the TMC loses. That alone can make a big difference.
Assuming the results are out by mid-May, we have 5.5 to 6 months to find out the future direction of NUJS.
Did the saffron brotherhood do anything when serious allegations of financial skullduggery surfaced in MNLU Nagpur? Nothing was done at a "political level" when inquiries by judicial authorities confirmed scams at NLIU Bhopal.
And why should we expect things will change with regime exits. Scamming and killing off inquiries and follow up action is common to all political parties.
