Man litigation sounds grim unless you're in a good firm.
I am also the sole earner in my family of 3 now. Mother and father have health issues, and they are unemployed because of that. I have one sibling whose college fee is also to be paid by me, starting next year. Our family survived somehow by using our savings for the last one year when I was in litigation, but now when we had almost nothing, I had to give up on litigation. So I joined a small company in my city as an in-house counsel.
The problem is, I'm learning literally nothing here. Most of the days I'm free and workless, just sitting on my ass staring at the blank screen in my cabin. Once or twice a week they ask me to draft a legal notice or two. Very rarely I've to draft some plaints for recovery. But I'm still getting paid around 25k a month for this "work" which is very useful in my current family circumstances.
On the flipside, everyday was a new learning experience when I was in courts.
All this work I'm doing here can easily be done remotely, yet they still ask me to "work" 10 hours a day in their office. I feel like I've made a massive mistake by going in-house. Are most in-house jobs this mind numbingly boring and unfruitful or is it just my company? Would it be better if I join some small boutique firm instead?
