Here are the pros and cons of having an NRI quota in NLUs, as I see it:
Cons:
1. People with low CLAT scores get in, dilutes standards.
2. Larger batch size adds to placement pressure.
3. Places rich students at at advantage
Pros:

3. Students who are not rich can always make it through the merit list or EWS/domicile/caste quotas. Also, some of the fees raised through NRI quota can be used as scholarship money for students from poor backgrounds.
Thoughts everyone??? ▮▮▮
It's really disgraceful to hate on NRI Quota like people here are doing. What do you have to say about caste quota candidates who are children of IAS officers and with very low CLAT scores? How are they any less privileged than an NRI Quota student ?

One did an LLM from Harvard and is today doing very well as a commercial lawyer.
One did a BCL from Oxford and today has a strong lit practice.
Another got a scholarship for BCL at Oxford and is into corporate law.
Another did an LLM from the US (non-Ivy but top law school) and is working abroad at a top organisation.
There are many similar examples. Often, their achievements are celebrated on the NUJS Facebook page and sometimes they are invited for guest lectures.
To all those hating on NRI quota students and calling them “brats”, is it your case that the above people were undeserving?
