The only restriction is that you cannot enter campus after midnight without prior permission from the campus life director, which can be sought through raising a ticket on our campus life website. Generally all tickets are approved within an hour unless your parents have informally told the campus life director to not approve such requests.

We should not just blame the admin. Students have initiated no collective action. If we are not ready to stand together for 30 minutes for our legitimate demand, then we should not blame the admin. People are ready to die inside the hostel but will not complain about it. Nothing can be done. It is a pathetic condition but TNNLU students deserve it.

Forgive me folks, but a quick question (just to be clear, this is a perfectly legitimate demand, and ideally there should be no restriction at all, but obviously that view of the ideal has to be balanced with the knowledge and evaluation of the on-the-ground reality). Tamil Nadu has made only economic development. People have a regressive mindset. Someone is suggesting the curfew by 9 PM, and people are supporting it. I can't believe it. I can understand why Tamil Nadu has a single good legal institution and why TNNLU is not progressing even after a decade of its establishment.

TNNLU will suffer like this because of the slave mentality. After ten years, if students do not support the demand for the removal of the curfew inside the campus, they deserve to be suppressed.

Law school is a place of academic excellence where inside campus, words like "Curfew" must not exist. Academic institutions must strive for liberty and freedom rather than curtailing it. The word curfew is an antithesis to academic excellence, both cannot co-exist together. If students grow up in the university with the words "curfew" in their adulthood, how they will understand the meaning of liberty. It prevents students in achieving intellectual excellence.

Living in Trichy with an average temperature of 35°C, we are enduring unbearable conditions at TNNLU hostels. Poor ventilation, zero air circulation – it feels like living in a "Hawamahal" without air. To make matters worse, we’re confined indoors by a 10 PM curfew, with terraces shut by 11 PM.

And this is just one part of it. Imagine an entire semester with 60 working days. We're 30 days in, and what have we faced? Bugs, worms, metal nuts in the food – and yet, the administration has done nothing. Despite complaints, we are forced to eat that food because the administration refuses to take action. Attempts to address this via official mails are blocked. Students who try to raise concerns get silenced – they don’t want us united. This stifling of communication violates our rights under Article 19(1)(a).

Extending hostel curfew hours is a recognition of this maturation process and a step toward treating students as the young adults they are.

Yes, an arbitrary rule cannot remain in force for perpetuity. If we cannot fight for our rights, how are we expected to fight for justice for our clients? It is so pathetic that we are scared to put forth our basic demands. We cannot expect to grow our intellectual abilities if we do not raise our voices for basic demands.
