1. How much of a probation period is considered normal in case of a non-tier 1/2 litigation firm at Bombay? I have 3-PQE. They have told me it is a 6-month probation period, in the interview, they did tell me they 'have some probation period' but did not mention any time frame.
2. Also, isn't 25K less for someone with 3-PQE? My experience has been purely litigation. I get a feeling I'm being treated as a fresher, owing to my prior experience being at Chambers, and not at any firm.
3. Since it's a firm, private practice is prohibited.
NOTE:
Offer was not made during the interview, but a day after, that too over phone call. No written offer over email from their end. They have not left any scope for negotiation. More of a 'take it or leave it' situation

Having a probation period is normal, 6 months probation sounds a bit too much; upto 3 months is fine. If they're not very okay with the way you work, they could extend it the probation by another 3 month period, but a 6-month, right off the door shows that they're not very keen on going forth with you. Don't take it personally. The firm and chamber game is VERY different.
Also 25k is just abysmal payment OP. Do not rush as this will be an important switch for you
