Does that mean that ML will be booed at Peninsula Corporate Park?

Yash is now what LK Advani is context of BJP! Even better - Rohit Sharma of Mumbai Indians. Later is accurate as Yash is nowhere close to retirement age and yet his position as Head, Capital Market has been taken and given to Manan.

Yeah lmao what was that subtle attempt to slide him into this list, the book size difference between them is more than what some small firms make
In Delhi, barring the founders only Saurav is the top dawg. He has control over HW, RA and SS. If he leaves, its over.
The team has not lost a single associate to domestic firms after A2 level. Their competitors offer better pays, still everyone choose to stay with Manan for a reason.
Why wouldn't they be? They anyways have a lot of work, it's good for them
What would they have done by staying back ? Had to move
If they don't like it....they know where the door is.
Still many partners with books.. in Delhi - the 2 founders, MAK, Saurav and HW
I don't know why this comment is contested. This is bang on the money (I don't mind confirming now that's already out here).
[Contested]

Senior - Ravi, Abhiroop, Vishal

Mid Senior - Manshoor, Abhyuday

Junior - Anshul, Priyadarshini, Puneet
Heard that CAM kids are not super excited for the milan. Such a mega team is set to become a warfield for opportunity.
Do the other partners at Indus have a book of their though? Or is it just Manan who faced clients? Also who all are senior partners apart from lahoty?
Neha balodhi is not a partner with indus capital markets. And EVERYONE is moving!
Says a lot about the boss, if he's able to leave with entire team (no one wants to stay behind). Hats off to [perhaps the] team culture ML has created, where they all stick together in migration.

The implosion of Luthra remains unmatched. 85 lawyers left to form Saraf. After some time, 65 lawyers left to join DSK.
That was 17.5 km running, not 17.5 crores billing.
I have confirmed news- ML ran a book of Rs. 36 crores with all the 60 lawyers including and this is when the capital market has been having bumper run since last 2-3 years!!! This is absolutely verified news.
Seems too low - although, 60 crores also sounds absurd for an ECM practice. Anyone knows the real number? Given the size, the number should be at least 40-45 crores to make sense.

I remember the time when Luthra used to compete with undivided AMSS and the likes of trilegal, jsa, kco and azb were not even in the same league.
What’s the fuss about? Low margin practice area, always playing second fiddle to banks, and a role limited to fact checking a bulky offer document that no investor ever reads.

Well paid β€˜lawyers’ though :)
Absolutely. Why would Avik/ Manan/ Manish feel embarrassed if a prospective client asks them who Haigreve/ Cyril/ Shardul are :)
Bro thinks a Sr Partner is spending 2 hours running everyday
This is true (coming from one of the insider ;))
Yes he was.. but the thing is Luthra was very different back then.. it was the most flamboyant firm in India.. Luthra gave best lawyers to the corporate world..but the current Luthra under HC is some Tier 7 bs firm
My man Manan. Asking Firms to either change their culture or destroying them if they don't. From what I hear, he's fostered a good culture in his team. Let's see how CAM suits him.

Unrelated question, was ML a Luthra homegrown?
Lahoty's team of avengers eat Yash, Bhakta, Sandip, Arka, Prashant for breakfast, lunch, snacks and dinner
7 crores? Lol, you are delusional my friend.

Partners easily bill 15-20 crore pa.

The 'biggest exodus' still remains Shishir Sharma leaving Dua Associates to form Tatva Legal..For those who were around in 2010 would know what I am talking about..others may search Legally India for more details. Best wishes
It willl be around 17.5 including bonus. Dont forget that it’s the shroffs - they will undercut
Incorrect.. the motto is β€œThought Leadership… Applied”

So leaders in applying/ enforcing a thought. I’m sure you can now figure out the Hindi translation for this.
CAM has offered 18 LPA (16.2+1.8) to the A0s joining with Manan. CAM has also increased the retainer to 18 LPA. Mods can mark this as contested if they wish, but don’t forget to remove it in a few days when the official announcement comes.
Not possible. When this team left Luthra, they had a book of approx 35 Cr. After 5 years, with a team of double the size, it's quite possible.
While I’m happy that we will get more people (we have too much work), I don’t think ML will ever be in the same league as Yash (or other CM practice heads)
How will an ECM practice sustain on its own lol. You need money to pay for the office staff etc. ECM barely covers costs even in T1.
Bro Manan can maintain a good culture under his team. CSS comes nowhere close to the clients ML has. Like LV, YA etc.
Is CAM offering better numbers or similar to what was promised in Indus?
Avik still shows up on their website and there is no change on his LinkedIn profile. Has he really left?

Manan has also hated on Amarchands (I have attended meetings) and is now joining Cyril. Money talks. Culture can change if you want money

Brainstorming is needed for sure. Just realised that the firm’s motto is β€œThought Leadership”, which roughly translates as β€œKhayaalon mein sabse aage” ;)
Correction: Indus is not a T2 firm. And they haven’t lost any clients because of any of these exits. Unlike CAM, Indus knows what it is doing.
Singlehanded started applications to get adopted by Manan bhai
cap 🧒 she's the name when it comes to gaming law
Agree but Manan has been known to being faithful to his promises and the partners have worked very hard to sustain the culture. Don't deny it till you try it.
Not sure how much they will miss that great work culture when they are making more money and not facing embarrassing questions from new clients like β€œSo, who are your founders”
Please don't put Manish in the same list as the other two πŸ˜‚
What about the people whose PPO interviews were lined up?
Lol....not too many people queing up to hire her.
Yash is certainly not more than 50 and Manan is 47. BTW Yash runs 15kms everyday.
How much would be his take home, take home for his kids or his kids kid. Any idea? What I heard that Yash is making 5 to 7 Crores.
Yash Ashar is not retiring. In May 2024 was promoted to Senior Partner. And will have oversight on the entire firm like how in a company the Board of Directors have.
This would have happened. Manish, Avik & now Manan. All 3 top practices/rainmakers gone in a matter of months.
This is telling for both CAM and Indus. Indus is now fully dead and CAM, on a downgrade since a couple of years and now they have to hire people from a T2 firm to make upnfor their losing clients and Rainmakers day by day

60 cr billing in ECM is impossible! Stop posting random figures!!
Can imagine Sandip and Yash reading this and saying.."hold my beer"!
It all started after existing cap marks at CAM left. CSS should’ve paid people for loyalty rather than hiring an entire new team (more money). Sad state of affairs at CAM management
Will the team take with them the people who were offered PPOs?
If Manan bills 60 cr. on an average he should have a firm of his own.
Manan Lahoty is the apex predator in capital markets practice. In Indus, on an average he billed north of 60 crores per annum. With that kind of billing, IndusLaw will lose out on a significant chunk of revenue each year. The demise of Indus is near.
Is Ranjana also leaving? Their TMT practice is also gone then.
Can the experts enlighten on why is there so much movement in law firms these days especially caps marks?
No it's more like Mbappe from PSG to RM (number 1 team in the world), although many might believe that it's a year or two later already.
Its a retreat. You can join them since some rooms will be empty.

Apparently Indus is having an all hands on deck brainstorming session for the (remaining) partners this week.

Hope some sense prevails and they can correct course.
With nearly all of their top practice areas gone (Avik Biswas and Manish Gupta before this), can Indus please stop pretending to be a full service law firm?

Time to go back to its β€˜boutique’ roots LOL
I heard Yash Ashar wants to retire. Makes sense, he will handover it to Manan and leave most likely
In football terms, this is CR7 moving from ManU for top dollar with Papa Perez (aka CSS) beckoning a Galactico to join the Real Madrid of Indian Cap Marks!
A 35-word comment posted 2 years ago was not published.
This won’t be a CAM cap marks practice. Indus in the garb of CAM will only be able to do so much xD
Indus will have same fate as that of Luthra. Star practice left, now nothing is there in Indus.
I have a PPO from IndusLaw for 2025, what happens to that?
So this kills Induslaw? Avik left and now Manan lol.
Massive! Biggest Cap Marks practice ever at CAM.
Confirmed. CAM should make it official anytime soon.
In the biggest law firm exodus in India, Manan Lahoty along with his team of ~60 including 8 partners will join CAM. Most probably Manan will lead the practice in CAM. This will make the capital markets practice at CAM the biggest in country.
