Girl. I am trying things in law that I neglected for corporate internships. Still maintaining rank but of course not as crazy as before. Spending more time with my boyfriend.

Have a whole year left, so I might travel and read more. Watch the famous shows and movies so that when I join I can easily make conversation and seem aware. Also start waking up early to follow basketball

I know somebody who goes to law school in England. In their three year LLB system, this person did a vac scheme at Links in vacation between second and third year, secured a TC. Was pretty chill after that, returned to playing chess majorly (a hobby which she neglected in the rat race for TC they have since first year), and went from 'rusty' to quite good, apparently.

I am frustrated, i have one whole year to join. In the race for ppo, i lost my college friends, who now dont want to hangout with me because they are either jealous or tensed because they themselves aren't placed. Having a tough time. Not rich enough to travel. Not good enough to have a gf. Job was the purpose of life, that too is done and dusted. Dont know what to do.

Bhai it feels very good for the first few months. You feel relieved.

Exams, assignments, etc everything stops mattering. No stress and anxiety.

BUT, now since you are completely idle for 12 months (in my case 1 year ago)- you get frustrated, anxious, super bored. Let me tell you that none of the distractions like gaming, TV shows, books will help. Travel might but if you're rich enough to travel abroad or something.

Till you join, there is a gaping hole in your life. It's like a big fear of missing out because you see other people working, interning, studying and you basically just need to pass your exams. My days mostly went sleeping, watching shows, reading books and doing house chores (BORING).

I went for an exchange semester.

My advice would be to build good habits before starting Tier I job and have as much fun/travel.

What good habits?

Regular Physical Exercise, Emotional Support System, Personal & Professional CRM (law firm can be isolating and you need to grow your network on your own.)

PPO has been an amazing thing for me for so many reasons. It is obviously much chiller now- except for me it has been a lot of contemplation about next steps. I have always known I will get a PPO if my luck is decent with me, and it was last year. My job starts in a few weeks, but my last 1.5 years of college have had a LOT of free time. Spent hours in gym like I have always wanted to because of barely any other commitments out there. Preparing for exams requires way more motivation than previously. I have decided a nice track for myself wherein I plan on interviewing for lateral movements to London in a few years time. I applied for TCs already. This has been me towards resolving the only regret I have in Law School- missing out on a TC. Hopefully I am able to progress soon. I think a huge gain has been in finding satisfaction and happiness about the life I have built for myself and the profession I am about to enter. My team has terrible hours but are really, really nice people and interning for two months has really helped me feel better about my prospects.
