Generally for much days a law firm retainer can take leave?(without getting fired). Especially what is the number of paid leaves?

What does the retainers who need to undergo a surgery do in such cases where recovery period is needed?
There is no such x number of permissible days. If you legit have a surgery ask for the number of days of leaves that your doctor has recommended you to take or one needs for such specific surgery. A reasonable Partner should be agreeable to such a leave if not leave such inhumane Partners/Firms.
KCO: Paid leave is 30. No encashment of leaves, can carry forward 7. Plus 1 miscellaneous leave
3-4 days of leave for some festival every 6 months as a general rule of thumb. This is apart from WFH days that you might avail in case of a sick day.

Depends, on the partner an the procedure you are about to undergo. The retainer sucks it up and works from home if the partner is kind enough. If the the partner is a hotheaded hotshot then you might need to suck it up a bit more.

Otherwise if you are staffed with a partner who does txns of less than INR 100Cr. but acts as if they are sakshaat "Blackrock/KKR", then you MIGHT have a bit of trouble and MIGHT need to give the partner a reality check (do this at your own risk, it certainly helps if you are better at your job than the partner).

There is noone kinder than the one who gives a reality check to, and exposes the mediocrity of, the partner.

Usually, for medical reasons, as many days as is required. This won't apply if you're on your deathbed, naturally.
