Correct. Individual EC members are aware of the SH complaint but it hasn't been formally taken up by the EC. However, other allegations by the same complainant concerning mismanagement, maladministration etc involving this VC has been under discussion by the EC for an extended period. It can also be confirmed that the EC did discuss the complaint emailed to CJI Chandrachud and all other EC members. Two inquiries were instituted against the complainant by the VC but the Law Secretary, GoWB disputed the actual minutes of that particular resolution and also refused to lead the inquiry.
All this confusion wouldn't have happened had the SJA ensured (like its predecessors) had ensured that all EC etc records were made available online by the university/VC.

Absolutely right,all allegations about SH at workplace ar false cause they are made to settle scores or as vengeance for relationships gone sour( not necessarily romantic relationships)
If the complainant doesn't have faith in the ICC, including its Chair, then she could have appealed for a change. There is precedent that when a PA was sought to be "persuaded" by a ▮▮▮ ICC Chair and ▮▮▮ then the EC stepped in and had PIB change the composition of ICC to make it neutral. That precedent could have been followed this time. What was the need for complainant to go to LCC Barasat? Also doesn't Bidhannagar already have a LCC as well? The complainant is very well-versed with both the law and practice. So all this is very odd.

Friends of the then ICC Chair (well networked with NGOs) are Chairs of LCCs in Barasat, Kolkata etc. May explain why the Associate Prof skipped ICC and went to LCC.
How come NUJS has not followed a similar arrangement like IIM C since the VC is Chairperson of the EC and any decision that the EC is taking in this case will be considered as biased or prejudiced as long as this VC is part of the EC taking decisions related to this issue
The FIR isn't a rumour. Police (albeit belatedly) did visit NUJS. Then again, police is known to operate in mysterious ways. When the PA lodged an FIR against the then AR Admin, she had to wait for several months before the accused was arrested. And that case has been going on in the local court since 2014!
How is it that NUJS has not followed a similar example of removing the VC ? At least temporarily till the investigation is over like IIM C did by removing their Director till the investigation in to the allegations are over.
The police came to campus. Queried the Registrar and two Associate Professors whose names have been mentioned in the complaint. Unclear whether the police also queried the Professors who are named as witnesses by the complainant. One of the witnesses has been backtracking. Claims no direct knowledge.
For the EC to act (if it is really interested), NKC needs to call the EC meeting. He has been deliberately delaying. Many EC members are beginning to grumble while NKC keeps coming up with conference/seminar/NAAC excuses.
NKC will call for EC soon after the LS election dates are announced. He is also hoping that Westin will help him impress the powers that be.
While Nirmal Premkumar vs State (TN) CrApp 1098/2024 is a POCSO case, it is important to note the point underlined by the SC - allegation of sexual harassment committed within close confines requires closer scrutiny by the courts while deciding conviction of the accused solely based on victim's statements.

In 2024, the aforementioned teach (now an Associate Prof) complained to the Chancellor and LCC Barasat against the VC. Apparently she also lodged a FIR too and the police queried the Registrar and two associate profs. Are you telling me that the complainant has now gone to the Cal HC?
Yes from what I heard the Associate Professor has gone to the Calcutta High Court with the FIR and also regarding her complaint with the University regarding the SH. The AP has now lodged two cases at the High court .It's now upto the High Court to decide on the next course of action.

So now NUJS is facing four cases from current and former employees in Cal HC. In 2019, the ex-AR Admin went to Cal HC against his termination on a SH complaint by the PA. Recently, the former Accounts Officer hauled NUJS to Cal HC for some payment issue. Now an Associate Professor has alleged SH by VC and has gone to court.
Is the AP trying to get the Cal HC to do what the IIM Calcutta Board did to its Director following SH complaint and prelim inquiry? But AP did not go to ICC and instead approached LCC Barasat citing lack of confidence in ICC. Has LCC Barasat given an adverse report against NKC?

Ironic, because that is what the AO used to do as well!
The ex-AR Admin matter concerning SH as well is in limbo following the transfer of the concerned judge to Telangana HC. That's WPA/16208/2019. Will be interesting if he were to return to campus.
