Ishwar Bhat should be #1 because he inherited a brilliant legacy built by eminent scholars like Menon, Chimni and MP Singh and demolished it, to the point where NUJS is struggling to keep up with even NLUJ and GNLU. Also, he had a reign lasting nearly 10 years.
?What does this mean? Sorry, maybe I am being the dumb one here.
A VC is as good/bad as the students. If a VC gets way with corruption and incompetence, the students must be blamed for not protesting early.
If you really wish to blame the ever-busy and ever-harried students for a bad administration, then why not also let the students decide who should be their new VC? You cannot blame someone for others when they do not have the authority to hold them accountable.
Replace Jaswal with Bimal Patel, GNLU. Else all ok.
gnlu rose to where it is today because of bimpa, even though he may have been authoritarian he was good for the university in the long run.
Yeah he was a bit like Ranbir Singh at NALSAR and NLUD. Authoritarian af but got things done for the colleges
Bhat, Talukdar and NKC: The holy trinity of incompetence, servility and mediocrity.
NKC is more or less the same as most NLU VCs these days. Other than Sudhir, Bajpai and Faizan, there aren't really any good ones left.
GSB being good is also debatable tbh, same with Faizan
Matlab koi acha nahi hai. Lets close the debate. Na koi faculty achi, na koi vc. Only students are good.
Amit Talukdar. But, he was not an academician; so he may be pardoned.
Hands down Ms. Poonam Saxena at NLUJ. No infrastructural development in a long 10-year tenure. Shutting down B.Sc. LLB, exchange programmes and making appointments on the basis of nepotism. Good riddance!
Have heard that the nepo appointed prof is also leaving soon, he has been taking online classes for now.
Nobody can beat CNLU

A. Laxminath

Ms Justice Mishra

Both were legends.

Another legends:

Sukhpal Singh (HNLU)

SS Singh (NLIU)

Ishwar Bhatt (NUJS)

So many characters
The name of the CNLU guy is Lakshminath. He should be higher in the list and BimPa should replace Veer Singh, who was bad but not so bad as to deserve a top 10 mention. Even Jaswal may not deserve top 10 status. Bhat should be higher in the list as well.
Are the first and the second guy same? Afaik, Nagpur guy quit assam and joined Nagpur.
Why Elizabeth? Genuinely curious. Maybe I am mistaken but I thought she was a well regarded teacher at NLSIU, no? I do understand that teaching and administration are not the same.
Also most of her tenure was during COVID so I don't think she interacted with the students too much
She behaved like a bully many times, from what I heard.
Many of the VCs are unfit. It appears that the author of this thread should be appointed as a VC responsible for all NLUs in the country before it is too late.
Why VS Elizabeth? she is the best VC TNNLU ever got.
The number of people who quit for other institutes was actually 6, not two dozen, but I agree with you about in general about the rest.
You are very right about Bhat, but it was the TMC government which was the puppet master for the decline of the college, he was merely the puppet. Also, why did the students tolerate him for 10 years and not protest earlier?
Not 10 years, 6 plus. Joined in 2012, left in 2018.
The conspiracy theorist returns. Don't you get tired of your rants here?
The rants are extremely entertaining - why unnecessarily discourage?!
NUJS politics is always so involved and complex!
Applies for the state of West Bengal as well. Maharashtra too.
