Itβs been a know information by now that NLU Jodhpur has by produced the best placements/PPOs/internships till 2024/25 batch. Not only has it solidified the entire concept of tier-1 but it has considerably improved its average figures as well. How did this happen?

reply Happy for them. They are going through some rough patches. Maybe this is the one breakthrough moment for them

reply It's very simple. Merit seats at NLSIU, NALSAR and NUJS have been progressively eaten up by various quotas, so students who would have normally made it to these colleges on merit are being pushed into the next-ranked colleges like NLUJ and GNLU. So you have very bright students in these colleges and they are picking up TCs and prestigious scholarships abroad.

reply This is spot on. But people from the old top 3 will say that domicile quotas are good for the college and donβt affect quality.

reply It has not yet. No data says otherwise.

reply surprisingly some of the students who bag the foreign law firms are largely students who get in through the NRI quota the one who don't enter through 'merit'. Might wanna rethink your misconceptions buddy

reply NEI quota students are not good? Whatβs your point?

reply NRI students are more than good, I'm just saying whatever conceptions of merit we have are not necessarily correct. Coming from domicile doesn't make you any less meritorious than your batchmates, as proven by NRI sponsored students in this aspect

reply This is true. NUJS has produced a 2 Rhodes scholars from their NRI and Domicile quotas respectively. But one thing to understand here is that the kids coming from these quotas are very privileged in every sense and are able to leverage that at a good law school to get top jobs and scholarships. They just had a relatively poor day in CLAT, which can happen to anyone. But the fact remains that in a public law university, having such quotas defeats the very purpose of inclusive access based on merit.

reply This is correct for the β24 batch, 2 persons with vac schemes in UK firms got in through NRI quota.

reply Which best PPO scene are you talking about. The β24 numbers are a shadow of the prev batch and day zero scenes also look so gloomy

...
reply This is a particularly turbulent time especially considering hiring freezes, I understand that the PPO scenes might be gloomly, but it is not bad in this environment

reply Yet much better compared to other unis and even other years for that matter!
