Before coming to college , while I was preparing for clat I never realised that this cringy thing exists in Tier-1 NLU as well. I am ashamed to be a part of this batch. We are literally organising intro groups on Instagram. Even nlsiu has an intro group. And oh boy the cringe that the group generates.
I want to ask those people , especially those NLS fans - Why did you tell us law school will be intellectually stimulating and interesting when these intros are totally radiating a different vibe. That other day while watching an interview I found this person from NLS stating that she doesn’t even read books and apparently TV shows are more ‘helpful’……….
Please tell me that these are the ones who fail at nls. Else I don’t think I can survive with them.
Your post is pretty cringe. Stop judging others and focusing on your own development instead if you want to make something of yourself in these 5 years.
Hardly ever read books other than the ones which were mandatory as part of the course curriculum in school. However, I had a habit of reading newspapers daily since I was in class 6. Made it to NLS and have been fairing decently (Top 20-25%). I don't think that there is anything wrong with not reading books. Many of my classmates never had this habit of reading page after page but after a while, almost everyone settles down and picks up the habit of reading without which u cannot survive at this place.
On a side note, one of my classmates dropped out of NLS during the 2nd trimester who always had a storybook with her. I had very little interaction with her but what I have gathered was that she preferred reading to watching movies etc. She was one of the absolute toppers of CLAT as well.
NLS is a crazy place, u can be the AIR 1 and fail (this is true and u will get to know it once you step into the college) while you may have had a rank in 1k+ and still be the batch topper (There are numerous examples of this sort).
I am not sure about what else is going on with your batch but this wasn't a cringey example, not everyone likes to read fiction and will prefer to watch a movie or a TV show. However, I do agree that your batch is somewhat mad with 1000s of internships, paper publications, and stupid LinkedIn posts which don't make sense but that can be attributed to the fact that u guys have got so much time to celebrate the CLAT success. Other batches usually get a month's time when the world is rosy af, u feel like u have conquered the world until the reality of law school hits and u realize that u r just one among the many in this rat race. Any batch would have probably done what u guys are doing if they had got 6months of this rosy phase.
Yeah, apparently the AIR ▮▮▮ of a batch has failed twice and will graduate after 7 years at NLS. There are many other examples where single digit rank holders have failed. The example of AIR 1 failing is true as well. (Won't reveal the batch)
Yes it is. Fortunately, they have relaxed the passing criteria to quite an extent now with moderation saving a lot many people as well. In spite of them, the rigor is pretty high which leads many to face year losses every year
Focus, learn, be kind, avoid distractions. Go for excellence, success including medals will come automatically and eventually, you won't even be bothered about those markers that people tend to obsess about.
Come from a privileged background (studied in schools like DPS, Doon etc) having a good writing and verbal skill in English. Then, work your ass off in law school and that includes, doing all the readings before class. For projects, make sure u do exactly the way your prof wants it to be, if u focus on making something new or think of writing it in a way that will make it publishable then u may just end up getting an average grade which will prevent u from topping the exam.
A bonus point: be in the good books of the teacher by being active in the class and ofc reading before the class. Ask doubts during the breaks or after class as well. In this way, they will personally notice you. If your prof has a good impression about u, u will prolly get 0.5-1 mark extra which actually becomes important!
Make good friends with toppers from senior batches then u will get a proper guidance as well.
Don't look to perform in all forms of co-curricular activities (maybe choose 1 or max 2) and stay away from extra-curricular shits!
NLs usually demarcates copies via numbers not names. No one remembers anyone’s name unless the handwriting becomes common till grade freezing around 3rd year
I am talking about real intellectual books. Who the hell cares about story books anyway???? Law readings and publications are done on the basis of your level of interpretation not some cringey batch introductions. “Hi I love to listen to this and that” , showing off their dresses isn’t a proper way to justify the rigour of NLS.
Let the college start, u will crave for these kinda cringe stuff cuz u will not have the time for this.
I personally don't support these kinda stupid internships/publications. They make no sense and u don't really know what journal articles are supposed to be. I don't know what kinda research u will do without having access to credible database which u get in law school.
U will have to read law and "real intellectual" books for the rest of your lives so enjoy the little time that is left to enjoy.
Actually the intellectuals in the real world all care about story books, as you will learn when you actually meet any. Thinking that only one genre of books has got all the answers in the world is the sign of closed-mindedness. You are young still, you will learn soon enough.
If I genuinely seemed angry , then I apologise. I guess I am kind of frustrated seeing these groups mushrooming every now and then. There are I think around 3 groups dedicated to the batch of 2028 which irk me a bit. But maybe try modifying your consolation style as well. Over-smartness hasn’t benefitted anyone , and it definitely won’t in your case as well. I am just putting across my point in a forum where we preferably deal with the institution of free-speech. It has nothing to do with what’s happening at my home. Peace ✌️
It’s so cringe I know. Have you seen other groups. God the Nujs one as well just doesn’t fit right. It seems like a totally different one from the batch of 27.
This is a problem with the average rankers of the exam. People who barely managed to get in. You won’t find this stupidity in IITs and IIMs. Or AIMS for that matter. Honestly I expected more from NLS. The batch of 2028 is a mark on our hard-work.
I blame NLUD for starting this nonsense. They were the one who started it, NUJS copied them followed by NLS.
It's such a pointless activity to indulge in, I for one cannot understand what these people seek to attain with such antics. The 2028 batch seems to be good at everything other than studying, curious to see how they will fair in their respective NLUs.
I share a very similar sentiment, ofcourse I cannot say it on their faces as that would be the literal end to my social life.
Worst part is how they keep reaching out to you over and over again, demanding an intro. Most of them are coaching inbreds who only made it in because they solved a million practice papers.
The domicile people are the most smooth brained, NLS needs to get rid of their domicile quota.
resonate with this, can't stand the fumes from the cauldron of cringe that the batch reeks of, think i made the mistake of putting NLS over Nalsar, the increased batch size has made things so much worse.
Don't worry man. I'm from the NLS'28 batch and I see your point. I understand what you expect from your peers. I'm on your side. We'll meet on campus and I'm sure there are other like-minded people across batches. You're not alone.
I am from 28 batch and I'd say I am pissed off because of the hatred our batch is receiving just because of few exclusive friend groups tthe students have formed and have starting doing this intro and sh*t.
I must say don't judge our whole batch because of a few overly excited kiddos trying to do this intro stuff.
Bro, these things are common amongst all colleges, when students enter first years, they all do such things, there is nothing wrong about these things, almost every batch since 2010s has done such things in one way or another. Everyone evolves with time.
P.S: These are the things that you will cherish later in life, so stop being judgmental.
I mean, yeah. It's 'cringy' to have these kinds of intros, but your tone is more baffling to me.
What do you think you're dude? Get off the high horse and try socialising with your batchmates ffs.
"Why did you tell us law school will (would) be intellectually stimulating and interesting when these intros are totally radiating a different vibe.(?) That other day(,) while watching an interview(,) I found this person from NLS stating that she doesn’t even read books(,) and apparently TV shows are more ‘helpful’(.)" (I guess your book doesn't teach how to apply punctuation marks)
What is wrong with that? You retain wayyy more from visuals than you ever will by reading something, and that's the case for most people. No offence but you seem boring af, I can feel the negative energy 'radiating' through your comment.
This '28 batch is a bit much, yes! But it's always better to be cringy than toxic :)
I guess I am just putting a point across the forum where the punctuation marks are not really necessary until and unless my side of the argument isn’t clear. So I don’t really bother about my punctuation marks or the grammar (now that you seem to point that out , typos are not uncommon I hope you know that) in ‘LeGaLlY InDiA’ where people like you deliberately question stuff by using bs terms like ‘negative energy’ because your personal opinions are attacked.
And how exactly will you equate the prospect of retaining visuals to an improvement in rigorous book reading that is usually demanded by the curriculum? Let’s say today I watch a very mind-blowing episode of ‘Mindhunter’ - how exactly is this gonna help me to interpret John Locke’s ‘The reasonableness of Christianity’ in a much more profound fashion? Going by your words I don’t think you scored much in the logical reasoning section of the clat exam.
But I will concur the ‘boring’ part. Maybe I will try socialising more and stop being so restricted. For whatever’s worth , maybe try working on your rebuttal skills as well.
▮▮▮ It seems like you have more to improve on than the very same kids you deride as being beneath you. Get rid of this arrogant attitude- I wouldn’t be surprised if you realise the realities of academic rigour get to you before they get to anyone else.
I strongly disagree with the posts on here that consider the intro pages across NLUs for the batch of 2028 cringe- the batch has had six months to celebrate a good result, and this summer is a summer they should focus on enjoying, rather than holing themselves up in their rooms and researching and studying. Why do people on here seem to advocate for them to become miserable shrews who have no lives, before they even enter law school? It’s cringier to pretend you’re a holier than thou figure and pass judgement on the actions of literal kids, man.
Recently this one particular meme page called out the confession group of NLSIU’28 by stating that the ‘chaaprification’ has started from this very batch in Instagram. I can’t agree more.
For people lacking context, @nluhate (https://www.Instagr.am/nluhate) is the account they are referring to. It's quite notorious in my college already. They often tag LPU in location; so they might be from that institute.
"They often tag X location, so they must be at X location because of course people wouldn't dare lie or mislead on purpose or to enhance the humor of their satire"
This, dear NALSAR, is why you will remain number 3.
imagine seeing the hellscape that is batch of '28 with its sexism casteism queerphobia etc and then ignoring that all to critique batch intro posts? like my man this is literally one of the least 'bad' thing they are doing
nothing like specific just the ▮▮▮ bois of the batch seem to be weirdly fond of making bigoted jokes and then getting pressed if someone calls them out
The concept of intro groups started from the batch of 26 as there is not much of a age gap (even most of them are roughly the same age) but the concerning point is that this batch posts the most annoying af memes

The moment you enter law school, just forget about your rank be it 1 or 1000. Work hard, acquire skills, work on your development.

I call it npc behaviour.
