Just a newbie to this term. What does lockstep mean? Ive heard it in firms abroad but never in India? Does it mean there is no sustained calculated progression in compensation?

Basically you get paid according to seniority and not ur excellence, traditionally this was followed in biglaw firms but has been diluted considerably
