The Indian legal profession is rife with nepotism -- even more so than Bollywood.
Who is the Karan Johar of the Indian legal profession?
Not saying that it's all hunky dory. There were problems with AMSS and a number of them continue with SAM and CAM. However, one still can't take away the tremendous amount of work that the Shroffs have done to bring the corporate legal system where it is today.
Meritocracy is of course needed but its basic human tendency to help and expect help. That only comes from connections one makes over years.
It's like CJI YV Chandarchud's son CJI DY CHANDRACHUD calling for Judicial Appointments to be more meritocratic and not nepotistic while waiting to appoint Abhinav Chandrachud (CJI/SC Judge in 2040's) and Chintan Chandrachud (CJI/SC Judge in 2050's) to the bench to start thier meritocratic judicial careers.
Amarchand/Shroff Family is the part of the problem why legal profession is packed with nepotism in an old boys club fashion.
