In the past year, NUJS has completely collapsed. To explain:
1. The SJA is now highly incompetent, [...] siding with the Vice Chancellor and the administration, and without exerting any type of pressure on them to fix the college's completely destroyed infrastructure.
2. Regarding infrastructure, the college now relies on outside operators and subpar wifi modems to provide internet access throughout the college because it lacks a centralised wifi system that has been degraded due to neglect over time. The vice chancellor won't fix the AC, hence the NUJS library currently has no air conditioning. After the (worst) bathroom repair, neither of the hostels has a central geyser system, and students are about to enter an unknowing winter semester where we may have to take a bath in ice-cold water.
3. The vice chancellor, along with the SJA, ignores all of the complaints of the students because he only cares about the NAAC accreditation, which will earn him more money. When someone requests repairs, they are usually told to "speak to the campus supervisor" or "we have to go through the tender procedure." Even in their hostel rooms, students lack essential furnishings like chairs and mosquito nets. The university's sporadic internet service prevents us from conducting adequate research for our projects. This would be the time if anyone could assist us and exert some pressure on this university.

Is the SJA physically stopping the GB members from protesting? The allegations that you have made surely affect most students, what is stopping them from showing their dissent in any form? I agree with the shoddy infra part though. From what I have been given to understand, after the past allegations of financial irregularities in tenders, everyone is now afraid to award any kind of work to competent private players, but feel safer to entrust everything to public ones like PWD or WEBEL, which are completely useless in general.
By the way, there are no outside operators involved. And mosquito nets are student properties, not provided by the university. Fully agree with the washroom issue (PWD), lack of AC (incompetent campus supervisor against whom past allegations have been made and silenced) etc.

Okay, you are high. The only reason there were fewer offers during last Day Zero was that there were scores of PPOs. Total number wise, more than 77 people were placed by the end of Day Zero. Keep c criticising the infra as much as you want, but NUJS still has the best placement ever of all Indian law schools.

It has been repeatedly pointed out on LI that the collapse of NUJS is not an overnight phenomenon but rather a a process that has been taking place over the past decade. It is the product of the exit of Buddhadeb Bhattacherjee and the Left Front, along with 3 honest and respected VCs (Menon/Chimni/MP Singh), and the concurrent entry of Mamata Banerjee and the TMC, along with 3 VCs of doubtful integrity and scholarly credentials (Bhat, Talukdar and NKC). However, the students are also at fault and can be blamed for emboldening the admin, through acts of omission such as the following:

- a culture where students are willing to give high feedback scores to incompetent professors in exchange for high marks and free attendance: this has fostered a culture of mediocrity and emboldened the admin

- a situation where the majority of people on the governing bodies are politicians and footsoldiers of TMC, unlike yesteryear when A-list Supreme Court counsels and academics were present on these bodies: again, this has fostered a culture of mediocrity and emboldened the admin

- a needless RW vs LW/woke vs non-woke division in the student body, culminating in cancelling the present VP of India while allowing Derek O'Brien to speak at NUJS and propagandise, which was a PR disaster for the college

The students need to introspect and ask why they have lost the spirit to agitate and demand improvements, unlike earlier batches. Look at Iran: 13-year old schoolgirls are risking their lives by protesting, while the students of NUJS don't even have the spine to send the CJI a signed petition.

Is not cause of mediocrity, it’s the effect of mediocrity and insaneness of senior so-called qualified faculties who do not mark students properly and give grades like it will cost them from their own Bank Accounts. Sorry but giving barely passing marks to a majority of batch just because you are a quality faculty doesn’t help students. When u consider that higher education market and employment market requires top grades (above 75%), you can’t make students suffer by giving them low grades and make lengthy A tough papers which even you cant solve in 3 hours. I recently met a girl who said that she qualified for NUJS but left for NLUJ after "taking one look at the hostels". You also have many from better-off families preferring Jindal. It's time we stop living in denial and take urgent action The starting point should be a shutdown of college unless Chandrachud intervenes. He is the only Chancellor who genuinely cares about legal education in the country.

Which part is contested here, moderator? There is no permanent faculty at NLUJ. That's a fact. As for PPS' dictatorship, check your own archives for related news or ask anyone teaching there. They are the only NLU who made all the faculty physically go to campus every day even during peak COVID and take online classes from there! Why do you think people leave from that place? There are three allegations that will spoil your life forever. At least the optics of your life.

Two out of these three are extremely common in nujs and appear on social media just before elections against the candidate that a "certain" group dislikes. Veracity of allegation unknown, but outrage tends to disappear post the results.

The faculty (most of them) are only concerned about the 1 hour lecture they deliver. Apart from that they have no concern about where this college is going. I think the key point is LACK OF ACTION. Both on part of the administration - which has become the ultimate status quoist and the students who don't even bother anymore.

Nobody expects an SJA to improve the University overnight, there are people who get paid to do that. The job of the SJA is to keep a check on those people, while advocating for student issues. Basic things like having access to governing body minutes and using them, keeps the VC and Registrar under check. I wonder if the present SJA has even seen the inside of an EC/AC/FC meeting.

Forget getting inside EC/AC/FC meetings. Highly overrated unless you have power to demand attention etc.

This SJA cannot even get its hand on the EC/AC/FC minutes and agenda notes. A few years ago SJA was powerful and insistent enough to force a highly politicized NUJS admin into releasing all the EC/AC/FC records. And then NKC had those released stopped quietly and the hollowed out SJA could care less.

Entitled Japan do not shower in clod water. They have the vest geysers in the world. Even in the villages. And the volcanic geography leads to many hot springs, further combating the cold weather.
Furthermore, hot water supply, while being something manny cannot claim to have in our country, is just a facility that a university with the word 'National' in it should guarantee. It's a campus and not just a lecture hall. I am sure the students pay more than the tution fees and thus they deserve more.

All these claims are rubbish. The hot water supply hasn't been stopped. Quit spreading lies. Instead of there being a separate geyser inside every cubicle, there are now two in the general bathroom, and students are supposed to fill a bucket with hot water from there and walk literally 10 feet into their own cubicle. That may not be the ideal situation, but obviously claiming that you don't have 'access to hot water' seems way better clickbait! You should join Arnab Goswami, he'll be glad to have you as an intern.

Let's address the elephant in the room: Mamata Banerjee and the gang of TMC rogues, who are attempting to destroy all colleges in the state.

Unless the students get political and protest openly against the regime you will not expect change. Let the left-leaning students associate with the SFI (CPIM student body) and let the right-winning students associate with the ABVP. Separately, and in their own way, they should take on the TMC.

NUJS is considered one of the premier institutes for academia and LLM, but the treatment of the LLM students by the administration and the student body is shameful. The LLM students are not given equal facilities and treatment. The quality of professors and the curriculum is below average, and institutional ratification is rampant. Do not blame the students for not producing good research work, the professors are dinosaurs who have romanticised their love for the archaic syllabus beyond limits. NUJS is crumbling more so because of the privileged students as well as the faculty faking to be the propagators of equality are inherently discriminatory.

It is interesting to notice how these infrastructural 'concerns' just magically vanish when the very people complaining start breaking into the acad block classrooms and mcs hall to party and then leave the rooms in such a condition that the college administration gets involved. Recent news from the infamous NUJS grapevine is that there was some party involving the current 5th years (batch of 23) where they 'requisitioned' the MCS hall for the party and the next morning the cleaning staff found leftover cigarette buds and alcohol bottles for which these 'seniors' were then looking to the 'highly competent' SJAto help them get away with it.
Conveniently bandwagoning is not something that is new to NUJS but to see the same people partying and hampering the college infrastructure and then very conveniently blaming it on the administration and SJA is just something that I think everyone should reflect upon. Looking at all this whining about "what is sja doing about it" and "kuch toh kardo", I can only think of and quote the Hon'ble CM of Delhi, Mr. Arvind Kejriwal, "HA, TOH KAR NA". Time to own up to your own mistakes and stop pinning it on others so conveniently fellow noojies.

NUJS IS NOT CRUMBLING. This is just a misleading effort from the opposing factions of the current office bearers to defame and demean the current SJA. This college is in a MUCH WORSE condition that 2019. Be it the wifi, the ACs (library, audi, various classrooms, nothing works), the lights on campus, cleanliness, drainage, security (remember the incident when an unidentified man made it to the girls hostel?), placements, quality of teaching (all good faculties leaving one by one, the infamous faculty exodus), or anything.

Every single aspect about this college has downgraded at a great pace, the most during the regime of the current SJA when even the societies are not able to function properly (mess com had an amount of three digits in their bank account!).

Agreed. The CRC this year from the Batch of 23 was a mess. Everyone had a conflict of interests, and only cared about getting themselves jobs. One CRC coordinator even resigned after he was called out by the batch. Worst CRC yet. [...] Let's not make the same mistakes that B'23 did.

SJA has conveniently released the newsletter, you know what is missing though in it? the work that SJA had done for the semester. ▮▮▮ They refuse to respond to concerns regarding the geyser issue in NUJS. They refuse to address any issue in general where they have to go up against the administration. The only issue they have addressed so far is the harassment accused professor and that's because they'll know student pressure will get worse if left unaddressed. ▮▮▮

bro please. if u go through the fees structure of NLUs you will find out that we pay one of the highest fees in the NLU colleges. NALSAR and NLSIU fees are less than ours. There have been various recommendations to the admin to reduce fees. Infact our fees income is more than the expenditure this college incurs!!! We have a surplus in crores!!! With little to no money is being spent in keeping the conditions of the college. The ACs of libraries, auditoriums don't work. There is a weird soan pari that has been created in the middle of the two hostels which has not just reduced space but also looks outrightly ugly?? Apparently crores were spent on it. Not to forget that the mess food is more or less horrible and the mess is constantly running on the verge of bankruptcy. Again we are a public university??? Why are we making surplus profits in the first place? Look at the previous reports and find out why people were kicked out ▮▮▮. The SJA does nothing except for being acting as post-men of the admin. The previous SJAs have done things worthy to go down in history, while this SJA is complicit with the admin in terms of everything. @moderator please don't censor my comment. CCTVs are needed for security of campus. Even Residential apartments who already have high level security agencies have more cameras than nujs with pathetic and incompetent manual security. CCTVs should also be installed in lift & staircases,. Only hostels & classrooms should not have cctv.
