Though y'all really need to stop bandying the 'slave' word about so liberally: it does not mean what you think it means, especially not when you're getting paid decent money and CHOOSE to stay there (rather than, y'know, get hunted down and lynched by sanction of the state when you decide to quit)
I thought a slave meant a person held in forced servitude. Now whether or not a person is forced will depend on their circumstances..I don't know man I feel like giving you one earful. But ok. Tumlog merko woke Bodega and shut me down. But fucking hell mate, my family will go without food and medical care if I stop working.
Go see why some firms actively prefer hiring people from outside the city and some from within the city in their younger years.
A firm based in BKC, a few years back went to GLC and asked for students from rich Bombay families for placement...

Not everything is about you. You don't have the worst lot in life. I get it- law firm work sucks. But slavery is not an abstract concept. It is a real thing. It happened to many many people not very long ago, and it happens to people today as well. This is why no one empathizes with law firm folks- they have no self awareness/ awareness of society. You can whine about your work without calling it slavery. You behave selfishly in not even bothering to understand what someone else has gone through and not even bothering to be respectful in your language and then whine about how no one has sympathy for you? its ridiculous.
law = hectic profession,you have to give your 24 hours .
there are lakhs/crores of lawyers as of today in india,but we only remember few famous people names.why?
after cases they sit in their own libraries and read and read and read ,analyse ,do meetings with various clients,etc,etc.
all they do is because they love what they are doing.
if we compare in terms of attrition rate.
look at infosys attrition rate.
look at kirkland and ellis attrition rate.
look at attrition rates of investment bankers.
if you are not able to fight and not able to love what you are doing please quit and look for what you need.
you be working in law firms or as a litigator your life will be hectic,cuz the profession is that way.
understand the competition in the market outside,for one post of an associate ,thousand of applicants apply.
yes,the work culture will always be toxic in law firms ,cuz you have to keep up with deadlines.
one day delay ,who will be answerable to the clients?
from next time that client wont trust you and wont give you any project/deals.
if you want to work for 4-5 hours,join as a professor/teacher and be happy with yourself and enjoy your life.
but dont expect to be paid in lakhs and lakhs of rupees including bonuses and at the same time expecting to work for only 5 hours i=daily.
it will never happen.
