The way I see it, a cultural generation gap that is the root cause of many of the problems we are seeing in law schools. Gen X/Gen Y professors are children of the 1980s and 1990s. In these decades the culture was heavily patriarchal, heteronormative and ableist. As for Boomers (1960s and 1970s children), let's not even go there.

In contrast, Gen Z/Gen Alpha students have grown up in the 2000s and 2010s, where there is a greater stress towards equality and more sensitivity towards minorities, marginalised groups, those with mental health issues etc. To quote Bernie Sanders:

They use flawed quantitative metrics like grades and attendance to diminish qualitative factors and lived experiences. Another problem is in classroom teaching. A lot of very problematic language is being used by certain professors. this is further polluting the atmosphere.

Boomers are hopeless and anyaway retiring. But the Gen X/Gen Y professors still have at least 15 to 25 years of service left as teachers. So I think we must have compulsory sensitivity training for these people. What say?

You do realize that this is very much what the Hippies (today aka Boomers) felt about themselves? They were going to be a 'free' world - free of exactly these things.

Most "professors" in law schools are hopelessly lacking in even the core knowledge of their disciplines and couldn't perform half as well in the real world practicing, as the students that they purport to teach.

Most of the students currently graduating from law school still know very little of law, and while the responsibility for that colossal omission rests partly with the teachers, a considerable part of it does also rest with the students themselves. Getting a degree with good grades regardless of actual perfomance or efforts, and then a well-known paid job regardless of capability to actually do the job well, these are the only reasons why 90% get enrolled into universities to begin with.

If you are discriminated against or face poverty, if you get into a decent law school you can break the shackles of poverty.
Going to a law school is about getting theoretical knowledge and practical training. Which way do you think your boss is going to look, when your excuses for inefficiency are discrimination, poverty or mental health issues?
With regards to problematic language, consider it a part of practical training because sooner or later this could be an integral part of your ‘lived experiences’.

This constant need for the world to change and be more sensitive needs to stop for your own sake!
Don’t expect your professors, colleagues, your seniors to mollycoddle you or your sensitivities because the harsh truth is they are there to do their job and earn a living and they cannot care less about anything other than that.
The sooner you stop looking for a moral guide or an ideal person, the better!

Get out of your bubble. Young people today are not any of those things. A teen vogue article does not represent India. Indian Youth are turning highly conservative. This is a natural consequence of a lack of jobs, growth or prospects. No one has been able to deliver the India they want to them. So they cling to their prejudices and religion.

This question is useless. No amount of training can help someone who revels in being disrespectful. All you can do is confront them, ridicule them, or if your means allow, sue the university in whatever capacity until they have to take action against the prof to limit their own liability.

Sensitivity training assumes that the recipient is open to change, and unfortunately that is just not the case unless a negative personal cost is created. You can’t expect niceness. You just have to be the more belligerent party, until it makes sense for them to cut the crap.

It doesn’t have to be done alone, for instance I remember hearing of an instance where a prof passed a remark on a girl who wore shorts to class and thr next day the whole batch wore shorts to class.
