Do what you got in your hand. Optimization should be your mantra, and not chasing the perfect ideal (apart from the fact that there's no universal definition of a 'perfect ideal').

I feel corporate law practice is a natural moat, because it's humongous and complicated. Also corporate law practice is not easy for everyone. Additionally, it is something that you can apply to every company irrespective of sector, while having sector specific expertise makes you face even lesser competition.
Media & Entertainment is enjoyable only because it makes you feel very current and contemporary because of the subject matter you deal in. But I see that since the entry barriers for getting into this field are low, sooner or later, it's going to become commoditized. I don't see any differentiating factors. I've seen average joes make good of themselves only because this field is nothing but contracts. Also, since media industry is a tight knit industry, and as the subject matter value is not huge, (after all the entire media industry is smaller than Tata group's capitalization), litigation and arbitration is also very less - because of which absolute nutjobs with poor contract drafting skills are able to survive since their shortcomings never come to light.
I work in a boutique firm known for media and entertainment. I have tried getting through to a Tier 1 team but have not had success so far - and it is hard to expand my practice area in my current firm.
