Had a similar experience at TL. Think this is partner/team specific. Very unfortunate.
So I am in CAM and faced same reactions. But I have seen some partners in CAM being nice too.
I don't think it's every law firm in India. This employee is facing it at CAM,so it's CAM.
Litigation firm and not litigation chamber, thats what the comment reads.
Just wanted to check in how your husband is doing now and how things are for you as well. I am sure many on this thread would be hoping he is on the path of recovery.
just curious - what keeps you from going out there and setting up your own shop?
@OP this is bullshit. Put your foot down and if your buffoon of a partner still insists, just leave. It a big world out there with a lot of good people/firms.
I can bet that at that point of time - your team was low on work.
That will never happen. Anything that is left behind by anyone - goes to CSS’s pockets. So might as well take the bonus and leave in March.
This cannot be "normal",whether it's happening at CAM or any other law firm. This happens and has been happening for long still doesn't make it "normal"
It maybe normal at your firm.At some other firms,at least a courtesy norm to check in how are things with you on family crisis.
It's your stupidity to have such expectations of sensitivity and understanding from the law firms.Law firms can do anything and powerful ones even more so.
Why March? Go now. Maybe they will distribute your diwali bonus to the rest of us.

A litigation chamber can create a fuss in not letting you leave?
I don't think chambers have retainership contracts with notice period clauses. What am I missing?

Hope your husband gets okay soon. Take care :)
All office relationships are transactional. As long as you are offering some value, you are needed else you are just a burden. I pray that God help these selfish people. I will pray for the good health of your husband.
Consider taking leave ? (Not saying as a joke?)

Its not a cam thing. Just a you got a jerk as a boss thing.
Extremely sorry for what you are going through. I feel sick the first month of my job and had to be hospitalized. My partner checked on me atleast 2 times. I think it's really partner specific.

Prayers with you.
