As lawyers, we must look at the case neutrally and without emotion. It's absolutely clear that academic regulations have been violated and disciplinary action should be taken. Harvard would do it, NLSIU would it and thus GNLU should do it. However, the punishment may be reduced on compassionate grounds. Ordinarily, the students would be suspended for a semester, but here they may instead be asked to resubmit the project and given a warning. As for the girl, she should be given a warning not only for doing others projects but going to the media and saying it publicly.
Please think like lawyers and do not be sentimental. Rules are rules.
It does seem like a bit of a grey area but disciplinary action would seem unfair, especially in light of extraordinary circumstances such as students working from home, without access to full libraries, etc.
At the end of the day, as long as she doesn't write the paper herself for the students, how is this different, for instance, from rich kids who can afford a private tutor or postgraduate to help them with their studies, or having a parent or sibling who's an advocate or academic helping them, or them studying with a friend in college and jointly preparing for an essay, or even someone who has the economic resources to buy lots of textbooks to use at home that might be directly relevant to the essay topic.
Nope. Not ethical. I mean this in the nicest way possible- she is stealing their education in the guise of helping them. And because they only care about getting the degree and not learning the law itself- they are letting her.
NLU students come from a ton of privilege- a lot of them are using Covid as an excuse to not do work.
How can people support this? This is academic dishonesty and cheating, irrespective of whether this girl is a kind person. The students could have simply applied for an extension on heath grounds. If other NLU students can work on their own, so can GNLU students. [...]
Projects at most of our 'top' schools are scams anyway. In such horrible times, if you can help out people in need by doing their projects, you need to be appreciated. You don't have to think of the poorest of the poor to understand that people are in trouble. Friends of mine from well off families (often a sizeable crowd at nlus) also have immediate family members suffering from covid and are trying to procure oxygen or are generally under a lot of stress. There is no way they can be expected to write a piece on some issue of Corporate governance right now. Think about the families where there is only 1 laptop/pc at home. How does the child take the pc when their parent needs it for work and that's the only source of income. Some of us are fortunate enough to be shielded this pandemic, but we should be kind right now and not spout bullshit on maintaining quality and academic integrity.
The student has her heart at the right place, but the action does raise some questions about research ethics and integrity of the assessments. However, it also raises important questions about the unsustainable pressure put on the students by the universities. Are the universities so inflexible that it is unable to respond to genuine student demands on extension of due dates and academic support?

What is unethical is the colleges who give strict deadlines and forcing students to write tons of exams and assignments despite the pandemic..
Also imagine yourself being from a poor family having multiple family members with life threatening Covid infections (in ICU) Would you be able to do everything. I don't know who is asking the question. But it seems you are a person with a lot of privilege at this point of time.
There are a lot of Law students who are in Government Hospitals or taking care of thier loved ones. There are students facing other crisises.
At the same time, if you are from a strict college, you will either fail in the exam or get pathetic scores.
Its unfortunate to see people questioning integrity of this girl and the ethics. Schadenfreude attitudes can be smelt in the question.
