There's the problem, you're out of touch with reality. The fact is that every month fresher hiring at firms (necessary to recoup JGLS/NLU fees at meaningful RoI) gets worse. A year is a long time in these days, and to waste a year could mean the difference between grabbing the last few jobs with both hands and finding there are no more jobs left.

May be true…the team works primarily through connections. The SAs are always busy in politics and currying favours by getting their own connections hired. This leaves almost no space for anyone to be hired through merit.

If you’re an outsider, they don’t treat you well or fairly, or recognise any merit. That also explains a lot of incompetence and complacency within the team itself, especially at the lower levels.

Lot of t1 teams are hiring through PPO. Aim for internships with teams which have vacancy for A0 (tbh mostly depends on luck) instead of relying on college placements, unless you're in the top 10% of a tier 1/1.5 law school.

A tier 1 firm would probably only hire 80-100 freshers every year

Honestly, the only noticeable difference between this firm and a school is the morning assembly, they even claim that it is like a school. The firm also has virtually no online presence, and I did not receive a satisfactory explanation for this. Based on my interview experience, I would strongly recommend exploring other opportunities instead. Even another Tier 3 firm may offer a more professional environment and better opportunities for growth. Think carefully before joining!

I don't think you're going to find any particular chamber which is in all respects perfect. Even if you find such a chamber, odds are that they're likely not going to have a vacancy, or that all their slots are filled through referrals.

It's also possible that if you find a chamber whose principal is doing really well, it's likely that that person is on the road to becoming a counsel. As a result they would have stopped dealing with and attracting clients and are focusing more on arguing themselves.

There is no perfect job. I wouldn't put pressure on myself to find the perfect job. I would put pressure on myself to find the job that takes me to the courts that I'm interested in being in.

The general advice during litigation is always to go to an office where there's some state or union panel, because those offices are super busy. You can find out the ins and outs of courts from those offices.

By learning culture i meant where the Partner isn't a deadbeat who actually likes to involve junior associates in work and gets involved himself. I don't really care about the volume or logistics of the work but the two firms i've worked at, the initial partner hated giving any real work to freshers and the second firm's partner showed up to the firm one a week for 4 hours and did everything online. It' a sad state and i'd really like to get in anywhere where there's a ton of work.

Same for foreign universities - you don't want to have H1Bs / whatever other visa for Indians to work in your country but want them to pay you a fee to get your certificates in India?
