It's good if BCI conducts the exam and mandates all colleges to admit students based on the CLAT scores. However, I just have one concern with holding the exam in regional language which is that the ones who get good scores in the regional languages may struggle to understand the legal or BA concepts which would be taught in tough English. This may lead to greater number of people dropping out after taking admission or people suffering after taking admission.
Not really! I'll support drafting of laws and legal books in easier language but not in different languages. It will ultimately lead to confusion and more litigation as there are things that get missed in the process of translation!

Plus, you will potentially have people who crack the exam in Hindi with zero knowledge of English studying alongside those who crack the CLAT in English, reading the likes of Dworkin, Holmes, Salmond etc. 🙄

The fact that they didn't even reduce the fee even after being aware that it is stopping people from appearing for exam just means they are greedy people and don't deserve to be incharge of it.

This is not at all a socialist move. It's a populist move. Don't confuse between the two. Socialism would have required policies wherein regardless of your economic background, you can get the same quality of education as someone more privileged, so this entire question of holding exams in multiple languages wouldn't have arisen at all. It does because we failed in being a socialist country, rather followed crony capitalism which has resulted in quality education being monopolised by private institutions in the school level, thus causing these problems. However, politicians still need the votes of the deprived, hence they are using these short term policies like bandaid.

Instead some independent body should conduct clat with reduced fees and inclusion of regional language would increase diversity, lastly it would be upon student that in law school whether they can study or not.
