The Executive Dean of Jindal has announced the appointment of Prof. (Dr.) Khushboo Chauhan as an Associate Dean within their office. This marks the second Associate Dean joining her team, following the appointment of Prof. Adithya Variath and his subsequent quiet elevation to that administrative role. Prof. Chauhan is recognized for having worked very closely with Prof. (Dr.) Sreejith S.G. during his tenure prior to succeeding Prof. (Dr.) Dipika Jain. Jindal’s attrition rate has become so much that keeping a track of the current faculty and administration are impossible. There are questions naturally arise regarding the motivation driving these recent appointments and administrative reshuffling. If Prof. (Dr.) Chauhan can be added from the previous administration, why are faculty members such as Prof. (Dr.) Jasmeet Gulati, Prof. (Dr.) Prabhash Ranjan, Prof. Akriti A. Tripathi, Prof. Anjali P. Chawla and Prof. Sidharth Chauhan not working directly within this team? Original members of the office have also slowly been removed without notice. These are unusual times, characterized by a lack of transparency surrounding frequent changes in key administrative positions. At least when someone leaves, most administrative teams send a thank you note to the entire law school along with names of the replacement Deans. The Executive Dean had also mentioned the option for call for applications to administrative positions in open houses, but this has so far never occurred even once. Everyone is handpicked and everyone who quit administration was handpicked. People who publicly raise difficult questions have been kept at bay from the administration. Prominent administrators including Prof. (Dr.) Sreejith, Prof. (Dr.) Indranath Gupta, Prof. Karan Latyan, Prof. (Dr.) Manveen Singh, Prof. (Dr.) Saumya Uma and Prof. Nawneet Vibhaw have abruptly left JGU to take on administrative leadership roles elsewhere. While the reasons for departure are considered credible in the cases of Prof. Sreejith and Prof. Manveen, the rest have mysteriously resigned from an institution they previously claimed they would never leave and an institution that considered some of these as indispensable, especially in the case of Prof. Latyan.
