Do you solemnly agree to all of the above?
1. Establishment version: The student was caught cheating with a mobile phone (using ChatGPT) by the invigilator, Prof Suryanarayan Dulla. He returned to his room and committed suicide.
2. Student's parents version: Absolutely fake reason by the admin. This was a planned conspiracy to pick on the student because he was an SC. Prof Dulla was hurling casteist abuse at the student for the past 3 months, at the behest of the IITB Director, Prof Shireesh Kedare.
3. Student's version: It seems to be split. A large section of SC/ST students, as well as humanities students (from all communities) are protesting and alleging institutional caste bias. On the other hand, most general category non-humanities students (i.e. engineering and MBA) seem to be largely quiet.
Latest development is that a case has been filed against Prof Dulla under the SC/ST Act and BNS. Two other have been named in the FIR but their names have not been disclosed in the media: is one of them the IITB Director? Now we have to see if Prof Dulla and the IITB Director will be arrested.
Meanwhile, opinion on Reddit is mixed. Some support the admin, some support the parents.
But what about NLUs? Any similar cases? Are SC students picked on?
