I don't see a problem with the 2024 graduates point, as someone who was taught by one of these professors I can say for sure that they are really great, plus the NIRF ranking still places NLS ahead in the Teaching, Learning & Resources parameter. The problem of the lack of funding for Uni events is something that needs to be addressed for sure and the abuses of the admin as well, but this is something that is common to most of the NLUs in todays time including tier 1s so it can't be be made out to be an exclusive NLS issue. The construction point is at best a temporary teething issue to accommodate the increased batch size, which will sort itself out and won't be an issue. There are issues that must be fixed for sure, the overcrowding and all the housing issues should get alleviated because of the new hostels that will be constructed in the 7 acres of land. This period of NLS can at best be described as a rough patch that is necessary to modernise and make NLS ready for the future with state of the art infra as and when it gets finished being constructed. After that the funding for the events should also return.

"how NLS has degraded over the 4.5 years that I have stayed here on campus now" - Good to see that the old tradition of whinging about falling standards of law school has survived the many other changes sweeping across that institution. I used to crib the same way twenty years ago.

LI's readership represents a very small proportion of the legal community. The people hating on NLSIU are an even smaller group of individuals. Does it really matter what people here think when NLSIU commands a massive reputation outside of LI? Even on LI do you think people would constantly be speaking about NLSIU if they thought the college was absolutely terrible? People generally talk about important things. Some of the people on this platform are undoubtedly paid off by some nebulous anti-NLSIU gang of TLCs, yes I am looking at you NFSU, to spread negativity about NLS. In any case, NLS does deserve criticism as you yourself admit. Just deal with it broski.

They all hate the guy that leads it. If one of them tried an Oxford BCL, Rhodes Scholarship or Oxford DPhil application, the week's washing for them would be full of dirty pants in which they had urinated or pooped. This is even before the "Thank you for your interest in studying at the University of Oxford. Unfortunately, we are unable to offer you a place this year as a result of the high quality of applicants in this cycle" email. Let alone the fact that if they spent one second with Paul Craig, we'd have to ask the Indian High Commission in London to lend us a matchbox to take home the remains. (I know this because I didn't get into Oxford at the postgraduate level, or Cambridge at the undergraduate level, because I, like them, am dumb - simples.) They know this and feel hurt in their insides by it.

Hope this helps. Don't worry about it. Your uni is in a very good place, all things considered in our stupid country.

Have you seen some of the new faculty hires? 2024 graduates are professors now at NLS. The University is run like a capitalist endeavor with fines for useless stuff; the fees have gone up multifold while facilities have only degraded. All the major events like Strawberry fields, spiritus have been stopped for lack of funding. The admin wants to conduct events and bring outside vendors so that they can get a cut from the profits made by the vendors. There is a lack of classrooms, with construction ongoing even during exams. I can write a whole book on how NLS has degraded over the 4.5 years that I have stayed here on campus now.

The hate that NLSIU gets in LI is absolutely shocking, I mean bro why are people so salty. Like it makes sense to raise valid points of concern about the institute like the condition of the infra and the potential impact of the increased batch size. The overall image of NLS is generally very negative. People keep bringing it down despite it still retaining it's NIRF #1 rank and not considering that the placement scene is bad throughout the market and not just limited to NLSIU. The faculty quality and the research output is unmatched. People ignore the fact that not everyone is going for corporate jobs and that litigation, further studies and think tanks and Indian competitive exams are all equally valid options. NLSIU is also one of the few NLUs with a student population that has a spine. Another point is that the through the increased batch size, people that would have gone to other NLUs are now at NLSIU.
