Although they are promising a "fair" enquiry, such an enquiry looks tough as the case has become the ultimate academic culture war. Depending on whether you follow the right-wing or the left-wing, this man is either an intellectual giant being defamed by racists, or a woke fraudster. Nothing in between. My guess is that the enquiry committee will take some middle ground. Ask him to go on compulsory leave without pay for 1 year, but reinstate him thereafter.
Sociology was meant to complement economics by researching into issues like how government policies are working on the ground, what problems are faced by rural communities in areas like health, education etc. Instead, it’s become a farce. Instead of doing serious research, people write articles sitting in their desk lazily bashing capitalism and the non-left, calling them fascists etc. And of course non stop gender politics insisting that men can give birth etc.
