I am not sure if waiting for a firm is wise, unless you are sure that you will have options to choose from in the near future.
Now working with a top chamber and killing it.
I could (didn't) focus on studies during COVID years and suddenly was graduated. Started in a chamber of young first gen independent lawyer in Delhi. After working there for 20-22 months started applying everywhere. No one replied or showed interest. Was depressed for a bit; connected with a friend who was in disputes at tier 1, told her about suicidal thoughts and confidence issues. She managed to get me an interview with other partner of her firm. Couldn't clear it. But realised that pitching negative possibilities gets you attention and people tend to help. Started emotionally blackmailing 5-6 of my colleague working at reputed disputes team. They all landed me an interview and I landed at panag and babu. Stayed there for next 2 years and have switched to disputes team in a T1 in Bombay.
All i would say is that it all works out in the end. I hardly had any internships worth even talking about, yet today I'm securely placed and content with my work and position.
For seniors who were in a similar position:
how did you navigate it?
what options should I be exploring right now?
My main concern is whether taking up just any role is worth it, or if it's better to wait for a good team/firm given how much your first job can shape your career. I'm already mass applying. Never really stressed about placements before, but watching everyone around me secure jobs has me questioning where I stand.
