You have clear right-wing takes on the economy and these are being upvoted, e.g. low taxation, more privatisation, more spending on physical infrastructure rather than welfare etc. Plus glorification of capitalistic phenomena like buying luxury brands and watches.
You also have comments criticising caste reservation. Plus comments criticising so-called “Muslim appeasement” (which is a trademark right-wing term). Plus subtle (and unsubtle) hostility towards LGBTQQIP2SAA++ rights. Such comments would earlier get hundreds of downvotes, but are now getting upvotes.
In recent comments I have seen glee over the BJP wining Bengal, as well as glee over Bangladeshi and Rohingya Muslims being deported by the new Bengal govt.
Generationally, the contrast seems to be between early Gen Z students/grads and late Gen Z students/grads. But I feel the dividing line could be Covid. The Covid and post-Covid generation spent their most crucial formative years online, in an era where the West has shifted right and India too. The toxic online discourse has possibly radicalised them towards the right.
