Recently, MNLU Mumbai released a guide on procuring sponsorships and encourages students to do so for participating in international competitions. However, with this measure, the university has washed its hands of any obligation to provide funding for students, as if any student procures sponsorship, everything from the registration fee to travel costs are deducted from it first with the university only contributing to costs exceeding the sponsorship. Additionally, the university requires receipts for all sponsorship spending and reserves the right to reject claims. The issue is, the university has done absolutely nothing to help students achieve these sponsorships- it’s 100% the student’s efforts from contacting advocates to law firms. Despite it all, the university can now unilaterally claim the efforts of students under this policy, claiming it’ll save the sponsorship money for future editions of the same moot (which itself is contingent on something participating in the same moot and reaching the international stage once more). This is blatant abuse of power and just another evidence of the university’s corrupt practices (like 10 years and no campus?) If anyone has experienced this at their university, how did you handle it? Is there any legal ground under which student efforts for procuring sponsorships can be preserved and not given to this ▮▮▮ institution?

Idt the issue is with providing receipts, but the university’s ability to reject expenses and ask back for whatever amount they deem appropriate. It’s fair to ask for a breakdown, but why should anyone have to justify their expenses and even give money to an institute which did nothing to help their moot preparations financially or otherwise?

bump, the fact that every expense must "justified" so that they have the right to claim every fucking penny for which the students had to skip classes and internships for only to go around chambers and firms begging for sponsorship - its nothing but another way to get more hands on money for them to splurge on.

NLU Nagpur recently rolled out their Interim International Moot Reimbursement Policy with a maximum cap of 1,50,000 for the entire team in 11 Moot (excludes Willem C. Vis (both Vienna and East) ). However, students are allowed to secure additional sponsorship required (money to be deposited in the Uni's account and detailed expenditure sheet has to be given every time you receive a sponsorship)
