I’m a 2024 LL.B. graduate currently trying to move into data privacy roles. I have around 10 months of experience in US pre-employment compliance (background verification and health screen vetting typa work), but I’ve been trying to pivot into privacy for a while now. I’m currently between roles, so using this time to upskill and figure out the right entry point.
Over the past few months, I’ve tried to build some practical understanding. worked on things like DPIAs, RoPA, basic gap assessments, privacy policies, and have been reading up on GDPR and the DPDP Act and collecting certs. Still very early stage, but trying to make the shift properly now.
I’ve been seeing a lot about Tsaaro Consulting and their career change / apprenticeship-type roles, so wanted to ask people here who’ve been through it or are in similar roles:
- 1. What actually helps in getting shortlisted for these roles?
- 2. How much do certifications vs practical work/portfolio matter at entry level?
- 3. Is the exposure there genuinely useful for moving ahead in privacy, or is it more surface-level?
- 4. Are there any other entry-level options for a privacy fresher?
Would really appreciate honest inputs, especially from people who started from a similar position.
